jaygon Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 (edited) Was hoping for some recommendations for a ‘PAM A’ RWS Deck, preferably one of the later (but authentic) reprints. As a novice, I was duped into buying the ‘Original Rider Waite Tarot Deck’, believing it to be an authentic reproduction. ps. Which version is the ‘Original Rider Waite Tarot Deck’? The colours are so dark! Edited September 10, 2021 by jaygon
katrinka Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 The Centennial is a Pam A repro. Sometimes there are indie reproductions, as well. I don't much care for the "Original", either. I like the color palette, but the linework is pretty bad.
jaygon Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 I may go for the Centennial. I read somewhere that the ‘Blue Box’ RWS is a PAM A repro too but it would seem that there are several versions of the ‘Blue Box’ dating from 1971 to at least the late 1970’s and I’m not sure if all ‘Blue Box’ editions are Pam A repros. They are also quite expensive so I’d need to be certain of the edition I was buying before splashing out.
jaygon Posted November 16, 2021 Author Posted November 16, 2021 Hoping that somebody can advise which edition of the various ‘Blue Box’ RWS decks (Rider, Waddingtons, pre-copyright, post-copyright, ‘blushing fool’ edition etc.) is the most authentic and closest (artwork, calligraphy, coloring etc.) to the 1909/1910 deck. I have read that the ‘Blue Box’ edition is perhaps the closest, most exact reproduction of the original deck but there seem to be quite a few versions of this box released in the 1970’s.
