Reading Techniques

Hello All!

So as I continue my more folklore/traditional type of Lenormand reading studies I am looking at “additional” reading techniques. Let us say Mirroring and Knighting though we can easily add Counting to this as well. Besides giving you additional information do they give you a type or specific kind of information?  What drives this question is I am remembering reading, can’t say where I read this, the Knighting shows you information that is right around the corner, not in plain sight. So first off am I dreaming I read this?  Second, I don’t always use additional techniques as I don’t always need additional information but that could change if they deliver a different type of info.

So I hope this question has made sense, sometimes I feel like I make things harder then they have to be - yes I overthink things 😀

I've moved your thread over to the main Lenormand discussion area @WizardintheWoods as it's not discussing individual cards 🙂

No, I think I recall Andy saying something like that. It makes sense - knighting just is around corners.

I tend to skip some of that, too. It can get redundant. I'll mention it if it's informative, but a lot of the time things like mirroring/reflection don't add much, especially in smaller spreads.

A lot of the positional stuff is good: corners are boundaries, the inner diamond is what will happen, etc.

@katrinka so then what would you consider the Mirroring information?  I keep on seeing, as you also said, reflecting or reflection, is that as in “info to reflect/think upon” - seems not right after I type it. As a mirror to a person card it could be what they are thinking upon/on their mind but then when not a person it is?  Not just a question to you of course, any and all can join in.

I don't use it that way. It's just additional infortmation to me.

In his book Andy says that mirroring shows “an explanation of any past incidents or important context.” That’s how I use it. In GT it’s more of a “How did this situation come to be?” (iirc, Andy mirrored the Heart to see why his client was still single), in lines I’m just looking for additional details.

@malvina, thank you.  Sometimes you have to have someone say it for it to make sense to you. The GT part is especially helpful. And this is why I love this group always so helpful and insightful.

TLDR:  Meuris Method of Distance technique. I felt extremely blocked on Techniques for reading Tablaeux. I love Andy B and Rana George books ... but they CONFUSED me with so many techniques.  Knighting, Houses, Counting Cards, etc. etc. I felt it was impossible.

I found YT videos by Lisa Loves Lenormand which mentioned Method of Distance and Meuris as her teacher.

Meuris' books cost a bomb:  $31 for one book [he has 3 and no kindle edition] but honestly this is the first method which has made sense to me. I got Lisa kindle book b/c it was cheap and Kindle [for travel] plus I appreciate her YTs. But I'm considering the Meuris books as they appear to elminiate the "fluff".

I'm curious if anyone else out there is using Method of Distance / Meuris methods?

I'm starting to think that like Tarot, I will have to invent my own technique [after study on the traditions, of course]. Anyhow, feeling greateful to have broken through the block [Mountain haha] by finding a technique that makes sense to me.

@Misterei agree Andy's teachings are great but sometimes confusing. I do have Meuris' book Vol 1 and 2 but have not yet reached far... Have been too busy. But from what I am reading I think he really is a very good teacher.
