WizardintheWoods Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 If this stays in the news, please keep us informed. You can always ask more questions like “Why did the Mother wait 3 hours to report Cleo missing?” or any other detail you want to know and follow along with your cards. I did this with a case or 2 in NYC and was amazed at how well I did with facts and details.
selena Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 It is such a sad but not (considering both the circumstances and readings) unexpected development/announcement. 3 hours ago, WizardintheWoods said: You can always ask more questions like “Why did the Mother wait 3 hours to report Cleo missing?” Yes. Three hours is such a long time. It doesn’t make sense.
Decan Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) Yes, it would be good to have some news if this sad case evolves. Edited November 1, 2021 by Decan

Decan Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 (edited) These are good news, with these sort of cases you’re a bit afraid the worst happened. Edited November 6, 2021 by Decan

I didn't even want to read on it. It's so rare that these things turn out so well. Of course we don't know what might have gone on. But she's alive. Here's a BBC article with audio of the moment she was found. The guy only took her a couple of miles away! How did he not expect to be caught? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-59159331 4 hours ago, bastetly said: I just found an article on the alleged kidnapper. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10164271/Cleo-Smith-Accused-Terry-Kellys-alleged-Bratz-doll-obsession.html?ito=video_player_click LOL, crazy Daily Mail. Making it about Bratz but showing photos of a Disney collection, too, and other kinds of dolls as well. I'm getting a picture like he's not all there. I won't say "harmless" - he DID kidnap a child - but it's possible he didn't hurt her. I hope he didn't.

Looking at his photo he seems to give himself the appearance of Michael Jackson (hairstyle, likely surgery for his nose and more).

Yeah. Who wears a Jheri curl in 2021? I don't see it ever making a comeback. The guy is quite the eccentric. The most dangerous people aren't: they blend in. Nobody notices them until it's too late.

It so far appears she was unharmed, BUT can you imagine what he may have done if she had got ahold of one of his unopened boxed dolls, and tried to actually open and PLAY w it? The story may have had a different ending! 😬 In that case, good thing she was found in time.

The story may have had a different ending! 😬 In that case, good thing she was found in time. *shudders* It could have gotten VERY ugly. Or not. I have a lot of questions about all of this. The police are keeping their cards close, of course. They're trying to find out what happened between the time she was abducted and the time she was found. And I'm sure they intend to build an airtight case. The parents are being "counseled" on how to talk to her about all this. Some of the articles say that one of the things that broke the case was that he was either buying, or sending someone else to buy nappies. I'm guessing in the case of a four year old that would be Pull-Ups type training pants rather than diapers. But was this an occasional accident/bedwetting thing, or is she developmentally delayed? If she has issues, is she going to be able to communicate what went on effectively? On a lighter note, I can't believe people are still bashing on Bratz. They were doing that back in the 90's when they first came out. Adults were actually calling them slutty, things like that. But they were no more hoochie-looking than Barbies. The real reason was that they're so diverse: Black, Asian, etc., virtually everybody gets some representation. And they're just fun - no career oriented dolls like doctors, etc. Why push a preschooler into all that? My daughter loved Bratz. I made sure she had all of them. 🥰
katrinka Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 And it's weird that when the police got there, they found her alone. Was it because he knew they were getting close and he took off? Or had he been doing it all along? And if he had, how did she not take any of those dolls out of the packaging?

Like often with those cases there are so many questions and so many weird things! Some we might never know, the abductor really seems to be nice but not all there. And the girl is probably far too young to explain what really happened. And I guess nobody around notice that he was different? Just hope the girl has no lasting trauma and scars.
katrinka Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 1 hour ago, joy said: And I guess nobody around notice that he was different? I'm sure they did. But you can't just send the police after people who are different every time something happens. And it's usually not them, anyway. This is a great old doc. The subject matter is gruesome - it's about a serial killer - but it explains how the local police were getting things all wrong, going after people who stood out while this guy kept killing. The FBI came in and looked at everything, and they had a profile. They knew exactly the kind of person they were looking for, someone drab that you don't really notice. They figured out his race, approximate age, history, etc. They even predicted that he would return to the crime scene, which he did. That's how they caught him. It was kind of like reading cards - they knew what things meant.
WizardintheWoods Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 First, thank the gods she is found and alive! Next, everyone looks odd to someone, people look at us oddly because we read cards. Witch Hunt anyone?
katrinka Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 As far as we know, this guy collected dolls and he had a Jheri curl. That doesn't justify suspecting him of anything. I'm in agreement with Wizard. I have a fair collection of decks and I wear my hair in a 40's long bob. Nobody else around here does that. I certainly don't merit the cops knocking down my door or picking me up every time something happens.
katrinka Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 1 hour ago, TheThumbPuppy said: What about a guy who shouts and threatens pedestrians (this is something I witnessed this morning) The threats need to be addressed. As for the shouting, every city has characters who do that. We learn to coexist with them. 1 hour ago, TheThumbPuppy said: As things stand, the police came but nothing was done and sooner or later someone totally innocent will be hurt by this deranged individual. It's possible that the police are already quite familiar with him and they know he won't actually follow through on his threats. It's also possible that they dropped the ball because they didn't want a smelly deranged person in the cruiser. I'm not familiar with that guy or your local police, so I can't make that call. But that's moving the goalposts. We aren't talking about that guy, we're talking about the police shaking down people on the basis of them being different in general. This is Arthur Shawcross, the serial killer featured in the Nova video I posted upthread. He didn't shout threats in the street, behave erratically in any obvious way, or draw attention to himself. He was low IQ (86) but not disabled. He went to his little job, drove around in his normal-looking car, and went home to his wife. He also murdered two kids, went to prison, was released and went on to murder 12 women that we know of. Would you even notice this guy? I wouldn't. He's a generic old man, he fades into the woodwork. The same can be said for the vast majority of truly dangerous people: you can't spot them. Look at all the pillars of the community who turn out to be rapists and child molesters. As stated earlier, the local police were doing exactly what you're advocating, shaking down trans people, eccentrics, the obviously mentally ill and anyone else who stood out. Meanwhile this guy was on a spree. It took FBI profilers to catch him.
