Daily Draws

Does anybody here actually perform daily draws? Do you just use one card or many? If it's just one, how do you interpret it? If it's more than, what kind of spread do you use?

At what time of the day do you perform it - mornings or evenings? Do you do this religiously - I mean, do you do it everyday without fail? And - be honest now - how helpful and accurate have these been?

Tbh, I don't perform daily draws nearly as much as I used to. I still would if it happens to be a special day, a holiday, or if I have something very important coming up - like a make-or-break presentation or an interview, etc.

What I conduct regularly are weekly 3-card readings + 1 base card. If my reading for that week is worrying or dire, I draw 7 cards - one card for every day of the week - and see what days are particularly worrisome. I do this as a sort of preemptive maneuver - like if I will have a Tower day I tend to be more careful and observant of my surroundings, or if I have it's going to be a 5 of Wands day I try to be less aggressive and more rational in situations where I would usually blow my gasket.

I do them sometimes, when I feel like it. I rarely do anything religiously, or to a fault. I'm the kind of person who quite likes discipline (when it's on my terms), but also need to be able to change things up when I feel like it. (Freedom is a big thing for me, I'm a Gemini  ;D)

However. When I actually DO daily draws, I tend to use only one card. My favourite questions are "Who am I today?" and "What are my outer circumstances today?". Those two questions also become like a compass that tells me how well I am connecting with my cards at that specific time.

I do almost every other day. I don't really do a spread, per se. I usually shuffle then draw a card. I then draw another 2-3 for more information and clarity. I read them collectively like one big story or sentence to get the message. I would say they are fairly accurate. Mind you, I'm still "new" to the tarot. For example, I drew cards that told me to think positive to get through work and I indeed had a hard day at work. I drew the Hanged Rabbit for feeling stuck in my job. I drew Justice for a day that I had set aside for legal paperwork.

At one point I wished to draw daily readings regularly, but I still haven't found that level of discipline yet, nor am I sure I really wanted to find it (the one time I was drawing daily I found I became too reliant on them, almost like an addiction--something I prooooobably should have forseen given I do have an addictive personality, even if nothing physical like drugs or alcohol have ever been an issue...). I'm happy with leaving them to weekly draws instead, unless I'm in need of some particular insight that makes more sense to cover that day. Usually I do them shortly after waking up or shortly before going to bed, but I've also stopped midday/midnight to pull cards because a situation or question came up (I'm a night owl, my times are confused. Especially when I actually have to go out during the day to do stuff.::)).

That being said, whatever I do draw for I tend to draw just one or three cards. Really just depends on what I'm looking for: "Any general advice for today/tomorrow/this week/etc.?" = usually one card; "How should I pace myself throughout the day/week so I have the spoons to do X at the end of it?" = usually three cards. If it's something like "Is there anything I should watch out for?" I might draw one card and then two clarifiers, but that's the main variation for me.

I don't think I've ever had one come out inaccurate. Some definitely came at things sideways, though, and some just didn't make sense until things came to pass and I was like, "Ohhhhhhhhhh..." (Like, "Omg, that's what that meant/why I was supposed to do that/etc." seems to be pretty common with me. Though that could be partly because I'm a Cancer and tend to approach things sideways as well, so I sometimes miss the easy/obvious message. /facepalm) I guess the only times they've been "inaccurate" is when they've said something like "prepare for strife" and I've taken precautions against potential strife, leading to the strife being mitigated. But that's more just taking proper care when heeding the advice, no?

Thanks for your insights! I got some ideas as to how I'll proceed with my daily draws from your comments. :D

In any case tho, I guess I'd just perform them when the occasion calls for it or if something in my guts tell me that I must.

I don't always do daily card drawings, though I try to for my social media. I don't use them so much as divination purposes, although it's definitely useful for that, but for adding to my interpretations of cards. I will pull a card in the morning so I can look for characteristics of the card throughout the day.

It was funny that this morning though, I didn't pull a card, I just woke up and tweeted "Today feels like a reversed 10 of Wands day". I said that because it's the last day of 2017 and I think it's safe to say that EVERYONE has felt the burdens of this year. However, in 2018 we need to release ourselves of these burdens.

Several hours later, not even thinking of this reading, I did a one card draw to see how one of my friends felt about an ex friend of mine talking bad about me to her. I pulled the 10 of Wands. I laughed =D

It seems like daily draws usually provides advice or something to meditate on for the day, altho they can provide warnings too when necessary.

I do!  :) Every night before I go to bed I draw a card for the next day and I think it gives me good advices to think about for the day. Then at the next night I make a cheek up with the card before I draw a new card for the next day.

I love these. Helps me to understand the messages of each card.

I usually ask:

What can I expect, today?

What should I know, today?

What should I focus on, today?

What guidance can you give me, today?

Came across both of these at AT:

How is today going to be for me?

Is there something important I'm missing regarding this issue? (Situation, problem, etc.).

I do them for a while sometimes, and then not for months.

A one card draw sometimes; as a way to study a deck, or just to see which card feels like travelling along with me for the day.

Other times a two-card draw: 'Do this - Not this'

(Be *very* sure to decide beforehand which position is which!)

That was gets especially interesting if the cards are pretty similar, like when you get two court cards from the same suit.

And lately, I've been doing a modification of a spread from the Ellis decK booklet, the Four Card "Daily" Spread:

1. Past influence

2. Present Potential

3. Challenge

4. Advice (in the booklet it's Future Opportunity)

3 is laid down so that it crosses 2, but I tend to put it upright later, so I can see it better.

(A horizontal card reminds me of a phone that keeps insisting to turn the screen the wrong way...)

I don't tend to journal about them; I'll pull the card(s) in the morning or early afternoon, leave them out on the table for the day (or put it inside a see-through pocket in my journal if it's a single card and I go out for the day) and just keep them in mind throughout the day.

I might make a note of which cards from which deck, but often I don't even do that; I'm a recovering perfectionist, and my motto (well, one of them) is: 'Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good'. ;)

I don't do them every day, but I usually set aside 30 minutes or so just before retiring at night for meditation.  I'll often shuffle and pull one card as something to reflect on about my day, or a point to focus on for meditation.  Sometimes I'll pull additional cards for clarification, as Emilija mentioned.  While I do a lot of journaling (and Tarot plays a big role in that), I don't typically write about one-card daily draws unless something is particularly striking about it.

One benefit I find to doing this is that it helps me to find a point or purpose to my day - especially helpful on those days when I don't feel like anything good has come of it.  I guess that gives me a sort of sense of closure - that it wasn't all in vain.

I do a daily draw pretty much every day.  Since I don't use the cards for prediction, it doesn't tell me what's going to happen.  I do, however, think about the card's meaning during the day and try to connect the card with what happens that day.  (It's a way of learning a deck to me.)  So mostly I'm using the cards as a meditation/affirmation tool.

And, although I don't use the cards for prediction, if I'm haunted by a particular card, I do take notice.  The last ten days or so, I have had an absolute run of swords.  I'm taking that as a cue for me to think about whether there's something out of balance in my life.

I could sum it up by saying that it is a daily check in with how I'm doing/feeling.
