Hello,

I am a beginner in tarot and have recently started studying. I've always been interested in tarot but haven't been able to focus on learning this til now. I would appreciate any help and advice that everyone has to give!

Thank you so much in advance for the questions I know I'll ask!

Welcome, it’s great to meet you!

Here is a thread you might enjoy 😀 It gives you tons of free resources for learning tarot!

Hi, welcome!

My advice is to keep it simple - a deck that is based on the standard RWS is good for learning with, though if you've got something unusual that's fine too. Do small readings - three or four card spreads at most - so you don't get overwhelmed. Keep a journal.

It's rewarding to spend some time getting familiar with the cards without necessarily reading. Lay out a suit and look through it, comparing, and looking up meanings. Lay out sets from across suits - ones, tens, courts - and compare and contrast those too.

I like to combine intuitive reading (just going with my gut reaction to the card, and seeing what is in the image that speaks to me) with reading about formal meanings and interpretations, based on the symbolism that the card contains. There's no one right way.

Thank you for the welcome everyone! Also thank you to Raggydoll for the thread link on resources (sorry I can't tag you due to my limits). I've already bookmarked a lot of these resources and I'm so thankful!

@athysia you should be able to tag people already on the forum 🙂 press the @ key on your keyboard or select it on a device keyboard and wait a second then type a name next to that @ and it will give you their name 🙂

Also you can hit quote under posts already as well if you want to reply to individual posts. Enjoy finding your way around the place!
