In case anyone's interested, my mom still has a bunch of old proof prints of the original card artwork.  (The true original canvas-boards became property of U.S.Games, and are probably buried somewhere in the same vast warehouse as the Lost Ark.)  Last time I was with her I did a quick layout [definitely not a "spread"] just to see what was there.  Larger images with a bit more quality/detail are hosted here .  They're about 8 x 10 inches and have clear plastic protective film, but that didn't prevent the photo paper from fading and color-shifting over the years.  Some are from before the pips were painted in, before they actually turned into *card* artwork.

I am actually looking to pass these to a good home, rather than throw them out, unless they're just not worth bothering with.  As material to display in a home, for example, they'd be a little disappointing due to condition.

They look lovely - I'm sure someone would be glad to take them on - I would suggest you try the Museo in Riola... It's very much their sort of thing.

They are really nice people and would love to add these to their collection, I'm sure.

Wow.  I haven't thought about these in months, but I *think* they're still in Mom's closet in FL.  I will be there in a couple of weeks and will check.

I think we were yay close to launching them but she said "wait a sec, let's keep those for now".

It is possible that a bit of photography and creative image-editing could bring the colors back close to original, especially if compared with a published deck of cards.  I took the latter image above and fiddled with the blue white-point and red black-point, bumped the saturation a little, and came up with this, and that's minimal work for a fairly dramatic change in just the informal layout shot.
