Page of Ghosts Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Some of my faves: - Shadowscapes (considering getting this deck next year as I think it's so beautiful but I've heard some complaints about the detailed artwork in the tiny cards, whioch has steered me off of it for a few years... thinking I should actually give it a chance myself soon!) - Medieval Scapini - Sasuraibito - Circo Tarot (it's gotten a reprint and I'm buying it next month I hope!) - Dreaming Way - Trionfi Della Luna I'd like to add some more decks to my list: - Paulina Tarot - Prisma Visions

[emoji4] Sadly I don't own it, I'm just an admirer from afar :'( I think it was one of the first indie decks I saw many years ago and I love the art style. Whole suits are created as whole large painting. I hope Little Red Tarot has it in stock for a while longer!

Whisper Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 MUST get this deck. Prisma Visions is beautiful! That's how I feel, Sandrang. [emoji4]
Lantana Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 This took me awhile to answer because I feel like what I find beautiful is different from what other people find beautiful... But hey! :P So, my list: - Slow Holler - Numinous Tarot - Next World Tarot - Prisma Visions - Lubanko Tarot (not out yet, but even the WIP shots are gorgeous) - Silhouettes Tarot - Cosmos Tarot and Oracle (I usually consider this just an oracle, but shhhh ;) )
Guest D76 Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 1. Sola-Busca 2. Minchiate Etruria 3. Il tarocco di Amerigo Folchi 4. Naibi di Giovanni Vacchetta 5. Dali Tarot
Guest D76 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 - Lubanko Tarot (not out yet, but even the WIP shots are gorgeous) There are a lot of really cool cards! One of the best tarot projects lately! But, this is again the banal Ryder-Waite clone. :( She make a really cool Tarot deck. But, if she want more people to buy it, she must to change places the trumps №8 and №11. Justice must be №8, and Strength - №11, as in the old classic decks. And why 6 of Swords and 10 of Sword so very Ryder-Waite? She must to think of something from yourself. She really have a talent is a painter and rich imagination…But, to be guided by these far-fetched occult patterns ....Very, very strange think of mind.... Many people who love the Tarot, are already tired of these Rider-Waite and Crowley occult decks. And their clones. Madame Lubanko, - don't make another clone of Ryder-Waite. Please !) 8) 13 Death, 16 Tower, 4 Imperator, 5 Papa, Ace of Cubs, 3 of Cubs, King of Wands - are AMAZING !!!!

And you do sound as if you're insulting them. It might be a language barrier, but you came across as being fairly mean with your comments. (Also, contradictory. You don't want traditional imagery but the artist 'must' use classic numbering?) Please remember that it takes an enormous amount of work to create a deck, and most artists aren't getting paid for it. It's usually a project of love that they can only work on between commissions (or whatever their day job is). And ultimately, they're creating their perfect deck, not anyone else's. No artist is obligated to do things your way unless you've paid to commission them. I'm sure the Lubanko deck will be a beautiful one, even if it won't be to everyone's taste.
FLizarraga Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Before I go into my personal choices, I'd like to mention a couple of, let's say, disclaimers. One is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, whatever that means. The other is that there are indeed many beautiful Tarot decks out there, old and modern alike. My personal picks, in this particular order: 3) The Bohemian Gothic Silver. The first edition of the BG is already, IMHO. And then you get those exquisite silver reflections, so impossible to photograph. There is a lot of humor in the BG, and poetry as well, and the silver takes the poetic element and runs away with it. It is breathtaking. 2) The Victorian Romantic Gold. It has to be experienced. The first two regular editions are gorgeous, but the Gold is something else. The metallic highlights elevate the deck, make it magic. (I have not seen the 3rd edition up close, so I cannot compare them.) 1) The Cary-Yale Visconti, aka Visconti di Modroni. This is the version with the female knights. In my eyes, there's nothing like it, and probably never will. I have the US Games newer facsimile edition, and I'm looking forward to Lo Scarabeo's.
bookshop Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 I'm making my list from modern decks only, because I could simply never speak with any authority on, or without being overwhelmed by, the depth and intricacy of the classic/antique decks and their facsimiles! I'm also dividing in-print decks and out-of-print decks because to me, all decks look like the most beautiful when I can't get my hands on them, sob, sob. Top Ten in-print decks: 10 - 8. some sort of tie between Ophidia Rosa https://leilaolive.com/products/ophidia-rosa-tarot , Shadowscapes, and Prisma Visions in the 'tarot i find lovely but generally useless for reading with' department 7. Celestial Stick People tarot, which is just so luminous and surprising and lovely! 6. Cosmos tarot and oracle https://lightgreyartlab.myshopify.com/products/cosmos-tarot-oracle-deck-second-edition 5. 3-way tie between all the Paulina Cassidy tarot decks: the Joie de Vivre, the Spiritsong, and the Paulina http://www.paulina.ws/carddecks/ 4. Tarot Mucha 3. Sakki-Sakki, modern abstract deck of my heart <333333333 2. True Black, natch 1. The Construction Paper tarot Top 10 out-of-print decks: 10. Slow Holler https://slowholler.bigcartel.com/product/pre-order-slow-holler-tarot-deck 9. Jonasa Jaus https://jonasajaus.bigcartel.com/ 8. I really love Visconti-style decks but am very new to tarot and want to learn how to read before I get into the “harder stuff.” Lo Scarabeo is coming out with a new Visconti? Do you know anything about it? I’m wanting to eventually buy my first of that style of deck. I like his Golden one that is currently out, but not some of the replacements of the missing cards... That’s kept me from buying it, being honest, though goodness knows I couldn’t have done any better. I’d be interested in any information you have. Are the redone cards in keeping?

bastetly Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Hello :) For those here that have not found Jerri Totten's new site, she is called Jae Larson? now and here is her link to The Distant Past Tarot: https://jae-larson-designs.myshopify.com/products/the-distant-past-tarot-tarot-size X/
Mab Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Aaagh! Just been totally enabled on the Second Nature Tarot on that site.... <3 My most beautiful list contains too many, but certainly Prisma Visions (my first Kickstarter); Amber; all things Baba; Tabula Mundi; Starchild/Akashic; Thoth; Greenwood and I think the one I'm awaiting, Splendor Solis... :)
bookshop Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Jae Larson's updated their website! I'm so glad, I hope that will make the Alternate Realities Lenormand easier to find — I own and love this deck, it is definitely the most beautiful of all the Lenormand decks to me.
Padma Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 In so many ways, all decks have beauty :) But I am still betting on James Earl Eads' Prisma Visions (colour version) as the most beautiful! Probably, because it is so unique, and because as an artist, I know what a difficult medium scratchboard is. I also love how the suits line up to make a visual story! (not selling the deck nor pushing it on people, but if you want to see the cards, they are here on the artist's website). https://www.jamesreadsmerch.com/collections/tarot-collection
TheFeeLion Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Hmmm most beautiful... I don't even really need to think about it too hard. For me it's TrueBlack. Hands down. Such rich, stark, glorious beauty! Here are some of my favourite cards (apologies, probably aren't the best pics but these cards are surprisingly difficult to photograph well!)
ayuryogini Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Sorry, I have no idea how to make this smaller. If anyone wants to educate me, I'm open. It took me an hour just to figure out how to post it:( I wanted to share my Empress Cards from the decks I think are the most beautiful. I chose the Empress cards because they're generally my favorite, but these aren't necessarily my favorite cards from each deck. I chose the same cards for consistency, but overall, these are all stunning decks artistically. In order: Top row: Soprafino, Omaggio a Erté, Mucha Tarot, Beautiful Rebellion. Bottom row: Influence of the Angels, Victorian Romantic (2nd ed), Dreamkeeper's Tarot
