Help formulating search queries

I’m trying to search older discussions on various topics and am having a hard time restricting searches. Everything I type seems to be searched as keywords linked by OR. I have tried using quotes to search for a phrase, linking terms with AND, going to “more search options” and selecting “find results that contain all of my search terms” and I still get the same results. This happens on my iPhone, my tablet, and my desktop; I’m using Chrome on all of them and the tablet & desktop are windows. Tablet is running IPS theme as is my phone; not sure about desktop.

I've never had problems using " and " to search for a phrase or multiple terms. Also when you search, select topics (what the forum calls threads). 

 

If you only want to search the tarot decks area (for example), go to that area, search and keep it as "this forum" for that area only. 

 

The search should be the same on any device.
