My Little Personal Creation/Innovation

A few years ago, I used one of the Chinese card making companies to create for myself a personal cartomancy deck to use. I'm not sure how to explain it. It's a Hybrid. It's a normal poker deck, but what I did was import the older meanings of the Tarot de Marseille to its corresponding poker card. For example the Ace of Cups is the Ace of Hearts, Two of Swords is the Two of Spades. And so on. Both the Tarot and French cards [our common "poker" cards] evolved from a common ancestor which was called "Nabi" by the Arabs. Their shared common ancestor was what gave me the idea of importing the old TdM meanings into their corresponding poker cards. I also imported the key meanings of the Golden Dawn species of Tarot cards [the "standard/typical" kind of tarot cards such as the RWS and such] into each of the poker cards they correspond with [Five of Coins is the Five of Diamonds, Page of Wands is the Jack of Clubs, and so on]. And then I included old cartomantic meanings of each of the cards.

Naturally, since it is a standard poker deck, it is devoid of the Trump [Major Arcana] cards. I never personally liked the Trump cards. But I did use Alejandro Jodorowsky's TdM correspondences where he talks about how each minor arcana is paired up with two Major Arcana cards, to put two Trump cards into their corresponding minor arcana cards. The end result is a Hybrid system of Cartomancy and tarotmancy which has, since it's creation, replaced my entire card collection [I once had about 50 different decks of various species of psychic cards, tarots decks, oracle decks]. This is now the only deck I use.

My original idea and intent of printing the written meanings of each card on each card was that I was too lazy to memorize everything 🙂 And I thought I'd print out a wall of text on each card of their meanings, for my own convenience. Little did I know that I accidently created a Logomatic system of divination.

Logomancy is the oldest form of divination since the invention of writing [Logos meaning Word in Greek]. Things like the ancient Babylonian Tablets, the Biblical Urim & Thummim of the Jewish Priesthood, the Chinese Bamboo sticks [Kau chim], the I Qing, are examples of "Logomancy" which basically means Divination by way of Words/Texts. In systems of Logomancy, prewritten texts are written on tablets or paper, and various methods such as lot casting, is used to lead the Diviner to one of the pre-written texts. The written words will contain the answer to your question or is relevant to the question or provided hints and clues for the Diviner.

This deck, by accident, functions Logomatically. I ask a question about anything, then usually throw down three cards, and relevant words in the texts jump out and combine to answer my question. I give my family and friends readings with this deck, and the text on each card gives them a knowing that I'm not simply making stuff up to answer their question, because the answers are literally written in plain English! Plus they get to also see the Relevant words pop out. My sister once asked these cards about a new job she was applying for and the words on the drawn cards said "Test... Exam... Redo... A Second Time..." and a week later my sister was called in to take a second test for the position she applied for.

The cards gives you words that "jump out" at you. And as the Diviner, you are like a detective where you use those words as Clues plus Context [the questioner's story, situation, circumstances] to "see/divine" the answer, or most likely out come of events. Based on my experience with these cards, and testing them regularly for 4 years almost on a daily basis, my estimate is that they can get up to 80% accurate.

Anyways, I thought I'd just share with you guys my little divination toy I play with very often. I like them a lot, and always carry them with me.

I'm not an expert but I really, really, like the innovation you've made.

That's really great, thanks for sharing.

I've always been convinced that thinking about modifications/adaptations/alternatives/... develops a greater feeling of intimacy with the divination "tool" one is using.

And this intimacy greatly boosts up the focus on the topic of the divination process.

I wonder if you've experienced something similar with this deck.

Thanks! I love your I Qing cards! They are very beautiful. I downloaded the zip you provided and will be printing myself some soon!

You're right about the intimacy. It's a "psychic" bond, in the truest sense of the word: Psychic comes from the word Psyche. These ideas or concepts we have of altering or innovating, or even creating things like new decks and so on comes directly from the creative depths of our own Psyche. And so, from the very beginning, there is that psychic [of the psyche] bond between you and that deck you created.

That bond and intimacy, and the Emotional/Emotive link we have with our own creation/innovation/alteration, brings that deck to life... makes it alive. In the same way where as children, our own teddy bears were "alive" because we had an emotive/psychic bond with it. In traditional Taoist Sorcery, that intimate psychic bond is vital to all magic and FU/amulets, because that psychic bond imbues your creation with Vital Life Force [chi] which is what makes things like FU work.

So you're right, I do feel that the bond and intimacy boosts my minds focus on the divination. But more importantly, that bond and intimacy brings the cards to life, where they aren't just a dead inanimate deck of cards. It has a "spirit" [called a "San" in Cantonese Taoist Sorcery, or a "Genuis" in Western Occultism], and that spirit/genius communicates with you through the means/words you provide it. Which makes the answers it gives you more Relevant and accurate, as if it is talking directly with you: something I've only experienced with the I Qing and other Logomantic systems.
