RunningWild Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 This may not be in the right section but I'm not talking about specific decks and I'm not talking about possible card meanings so I'm not sure where it belongs. I want to add a couple decks to the library but I'd like to hear from others which cards they'd like to see as samples. For example, your "make it or break it" card when deciding to purchase a deck. I don't have such a card myself but I know that some do. @gregory likes to see the Death card and I'll include that no matter the deck samples I choose to upload. I don't want to just upload majors for viewing so any suggestions as to minors people might want to see?
stephanelli Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Hi @RunningWild I've moved this to the Tarot Decks section where its a better fit. Personally, I like to see at least 1 major, at least 1 court card and at least 1 minor from each suite (this can be a court card). I don't have a particular card I must see beyond that.
Chariot Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I definitely want to see a couple of majors, at least one court card, and a couple of minors that are NOT aces ...in other words, I'd like to see how the pip cards are illustrated. I really don't care about the card backs, tbh. I'd say choose whichever cards strike YOU as being important as far as the deck goes.
HOLMES Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I agree with chariot about picking yhe most striking.. And add THE WORST hehe
Niobium Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I second the idea of 2 majors, 2 courts, and 2 non-ace minors (or one ace and one court). (I'm about to do another destash and since photographing the decks for sale is part of the process I was figuring to use those photos for library submissions. I'm going to the trouble of getting out the nice camera, why not, eh? Two birds, one stone, etc.)

Oh good, I'm glad no one seems to care to see aces. As for the most striking, I'll do my best. And as for the worst, erm... It's that thing about beauty being in the eyes of the beholder as it applies to art... So I think I have a good grasp of it now. Thanks all for your help. Anyone else?
Anabiyeni Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 I've been trying to pick a variety. If the deck is animals, pick at least one mammal/bird/fish/insect. If it's collaborative, find 6 cards with wildly different art styles. I also keep in mind cards that will photograph well, since too many tiny details just look blurry and/or pixelated. I also include at least one major/minor/court, at least one card of each suit, and if the deck has extra bonus cards, at least one of those. I just uploaded several decks and have another dozen sitting on my computer waiting to be uploaded once I track down the details. Questions/thoughts: 1. I'm unclear on how Lenormands fit in to the library, if they do. 2. Are non-card (dice, for example) decks of interest for the library?
