In general I feel that limited pallettes require the artist to do more with less, and you get some really inspiring results from that. This is what I am discovering as well. 4 hours ago, Niobium said: 5th Edition of the Jonas Jaus Tarot, in which the artist opted to drop one of the colors from the already small set, resulted in a deck which I felt had lost its appeal. I sold mine for this very reason.
gregory Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I think in that particular case, the artist is recreating far too often - I am no longer buying her new editions.

Niobium Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I've opted out of the 7th as well, but I'm hopeful they'll focus on their other deck from here on out; it's a watercolor RWS deck based on Galician myths. The few cards they've shared so far are really fantastic. Fingers crossed.

I'm walking this back. Very much into the RWS now, and when I saw The Dark Side of Tarot by Roi and Graham, I knew I had to get it. I like how the images differ from the traditional Smith, revealing a more shadowy aspect in more ways than one. It also helped that the companion book is entirely in English, and for a Lo Scarabeo deck, that's a bit special.

Hope to hear a review once you’ve received it.

Will definitely post one once I receive it.

I watched another flip through and those courts are just too good. It's coming on the slow train but I'll definitely let you guys know how we get along when it arrives! I fricking love it! Black and white deck fear is officially gone. I can read it traditionally, intuitively and anywhere inbetween. Woop!
