AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Any thoughts on differences in printings of the Hermetic Tarot? All I know is the red box and yellow box
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I have the latest red box edition, but I don't have the yellow so I can't compare them. If you have questions on the red tho, I'd be happy to answer them.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 thank you Empyrean. I was just wondering if there was a difference in cardstock that would make the first edition (yellow) worth paying the extra dollars for. I think I'll be practical and get the second edition. Or if I've just forgotten the box is yellow on one side and white on the other? :)
Magickjack Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Hi. I have both decks but unfortunatly I do not have both decks to do a close up comparison and can only go on memory. I actually do not think there is any difference. I think I would have noticed any changes or differences. I would go ahead and get the red one unless you are a die hard collector. I know the box on my yellow one is falling apart and the red one is quite sturdy. Could be the age. I personally like the red color. I did find a minor typo in the LWB in the red box. The first page of the LWB lists the astrological symbols of the signs and planets. Pluto has the Mercury symbol and not the Pluto symbol. Just thought I'd throw that in there. LOL Hope that helps.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 thank you Magickjack, I ordered a yellow box today, for below cheap The fun of ebay is if you wait long enough what you are looking for comes up.
Magickjack Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Cool. You now own an original first printing. Congrats! I fell in love with this deck when it was out of print so I also got my yellow box on Ebay at a good price. This deck has a great LWB.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 well that was fun. the listing showed yellow box w/free shipping for $18.00 and change. Free shipping from UK to US mind you...postage was 16.95. wasn't a profitable idea if you ask me. The new-ish red box/white cards is what came. I wrote the seller to say I didn't care one way or the other but I would wait to see if they fix their current listings before I leave feedback.

Chiska Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 That is rotten luck! I have an odd duck - mine is yellow & red box and is exact as the 1st edition made in Spain, but it is a Carta Mundi version printed in Belgium.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Now see? This is a "Peckish" moment. >:( Sorry M'Dear. too funny, now I must rush off and see if you put your rant back up! Actually to me peckish means I need a slice of cheese to carry me to dinner time :) But I couldn't think of the word i wanted
Magickjack Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 This is a perfect example of why I hate Ebay! (but thats another thread). Sorry to hear what happened. I would keep the deck but definitly give them a bad rating and why. I'm not a serious collector of card decks so I personally like the red box. It feels much sturdier and the cards are exactly if not better than the earlier prints. That isn't a reason to not expect anything less than what was in the ad. Sometimes you can't always zero in on the fakes. They are really good at hiding important things about their product. Good luck.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 16, 2018 Author Posted February 16, 2018 it isn't a fake, it is legitimately published by USGames. It just isn't the early edition it is one of those sellers with thousands of listings, so I was surprised when I heard back from the seller very quickly. I'll check in a few days and see if the image is corrected. I love ebay :) and have made a ton of $$ there over the years. Negative is the last thing I'd want to leave for anyone. My total big fat peeve? sellers who aren't using US priority shipping (rather media or first class) but use US priority free (taxpayer paid for) as shielding within the package. I always send a complaint about that, hopefully having been called on it they won't in the future. But I wouldn't leave a negative over it. And I never buy from them again. How is that for off-topic :)
TreeRoland Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I make handmade paper and do letterpress printing. I came here inquiring after the Book of Aradia Tarot, 1984, that I wanted to reprint on handmade paper, but then I discovered this Hermetic Tarot, which I want to reprint also. Since it is Black and White, it will be perfect printed by letterpress on handmade paper. Are these designs in the public domain, or what? How can I get permission to reprint the deck?
