Exactly. I have gone back and forth since last night. I did order it. For that price it just seemed worthy of at least trying it. The positives seem to outweigh the negatives I’ve heard.

Yay! I look forward to it!

I really really like it. There are a few cards that don't read that easy at first, but I think one can figure it out how to read. Afaik they'll release a 2. edition with exactly these cards changed.

Thank you for sharing. I feel really drawn to the deck - when a deck presents itself to me unexpectedly, I take notice. I feel it will be an interesting reader.

Is there a plan to release a second edition?

Gladly to be of help. I don't know how concrete the plan is, I saw a comment of the creator on social media with the idea of changing some (or two?) cards for the second edtion.

I am curious what changes she may make and if she does reprint it.

My deck arrives today! 🤞

Yes it does! I saw it too and there will be a book with the explanations of the art. ❤️

When ?

Thank you for bringing this deck to my attention! It looks great although of course 18th century is not medieval at all.... but the eclectic character makes it special. I have good readings with my other wildly collaged decks, somehow it seems to work for me. I'll put this on my endless wish list! And I'd love to hear how it reads for you.

Most of the images used are in fact mediaeval. Where did 18th century come from ?

Mine arrived. I LOVE it (even if the edges are gilded....)

The guilding isn’t my favorite wither, but I really like the deck. The images are fabulous. i haven’t had a chance to look at the guidebook.

Now I want details of where the images were sourced - that kind of thing fascinates me.

Me, too!

Nice find! Makes sense why the special price before the holidays. I am super curious what the ‘art print’ version will be.  Thank you for the link.

This Sunday, if I remember correctly.

I ordered this deck for my birthday, in spite of the mixed reactions I saw on Youtube. I actually find the crazier, not-so-RWS cards most interesting. It will take a long time to arrive here but when it does, maybe we can compare our experiences?

I found it interesting that it came 1st in our decks of 2022 poll (with 2 others). It shows that some people really like it and it was their favourite deck of 2022 to them personally 🙂

Oh, how interesting!

Thank you for the link to the list. I missed that post.

That poll result was one of the reasons to order it. The Tarot of the Abyss ranked very high as well, and it works beautifully for me, nearly eerily precise. It moved into the ranks of my personal favourite decks immediately. So I have high hopes for the Serpent and Peacock; I trust the swarm intelligence of this forum. I'm all for medieval quaint, quirky and weird 😉

So, today it arrived! My first impression is very good. The beautiful box - the tin (I adore tins for decks!), the intricate and intense card backs, and the cards themselves. It's a crazy idea, especially since the creator openly admits she knew nothing about the tarot when she set out, and simply aligned the images with RWS. She must have been inspired because it seems to work very well; I didn't read with it yet but  you can read with it right out of the box.

I don't mind the fuzziness of some cards, I simply call it time-worn and it doesn't bother me. I'll do a reading with asap, there are a number of readings I want to do and can't wait!

I have a sub-collection for Medieval and Renaissance themed decks, and this one sits somewhere between the Golden, Renaissance and Touchstone tarot. Over time, I realized that collaged decks speak to me.

For many years, I taught Art History and the Introduction to Medieval and Renaissance course was my standard course. And illuminated manuscripts are especially dear to me. I have a lot of books about this miniature art, always in service to the hand-written text but bursting out with its own character wherever possible.

Somehow, this suits the tarot quite well. Esoteric lore is wonderful and fascinating, but art speaks its own language.
