Ooh hello @Misterei yes the square cards are a real curiosity. I'll attach a picture of them (excuse the glare). Funnily enough they are called pasyans also! You rotate them around to match the images. Unless this is what you're referring to 😂

By all means, do so!

The stuff dubbed 'traditional' (it is old, yes... Still, in some cases, I do not know how actually traditional something is, as opposed to 'made up by the author in times past'!) , well, that stuff makes for nice ground to dig roots in.

From there, the trunk: What holds water for you, brings "it" together, best kept simple - a trunk is a natural one-liner in essence.

Last, the branches.

They will develop naturally by reading with the trunk grown out of the roots.

Best give it time to develop, for what you are searching for is a functional system for reading, with a satisfactory degree of precision (i.e. you know what the cards are telling and what is gathered therefrom does play out in what we refer to as "reality").

 

Instead of the following (which is here for those where it may instill guilt, so they may find betterment):

A system of reading the cards to pose as some sort of authority on cartomancy for the sake of gathering an audience of gullible ones and transform them into a herd of sheep to get their wool and feel like they were some sort of big deal.

@Mister that's an excellent anology with the tree, very poetic, thank you. 😊 And you're right, it takes time to develop a functional system using existing ones as the base. Especially when they need updating to match our current reality.

@akiva the deck I sadly returned is called Tarocchino Al Soldato: Anima Antiqua. It's pretty cheap on Amazon. It's similar to my beloved Bolognese style deck ... but sadly I just freak out with no 2s, 3s. 4s. 5s. If you can read the abridged decks ... it's lovely.

And yes, the cards you pictured are Pasyans cards. They're a bit similar to LeNormand. I "took" to Pasyans and LeNormands. But other systems like kipper, playing card methods, etc. didn't hit for me ... and I don't have the mental bandwidth to force myself to learn something that doesn't hit ... if that makes sense.

It's all down to preference I guess, which makes vs questions like this thread very interesting to answer/read. What reads 'accurately' or not for one person isn't always going to be the same for another! 😊
