I'm returning to the tarot forums after taking a break for a while. I was known as dawntarot on Aeclectic. Good to see some familiar faces here, and looking forward to getting to know the rest of you!  ;D

 

I've been reading tarot for about 9 years now and also dabble in Lenormand and playing card readings when the mood strikes. Tarot will forever be my first love though!

I like your username. It reminds me of the alba, or the morning love song of the troubadours that warns lovers to part at dawn or risk getting discovered. The serena is the evening song, where the swain can't wait for night to fall so that he can behold the love of his life once more.

EmpyreanKnight, thank you for the insight into my name! I didn't know this before. Alba is also the Gaelic word for Scotland, which is where I'm from. ^_^

 

Looking forward to perusing the forum and getting involved with exchanges, study groups etc :)

Oh, that's a nice coincidence then. Albadawn for alba, the dawn song of courtly love. Or simply for Scotland (I think fair Albion is England or the whole of Great Britain?).

Well, I'm trying to teach myself Italian, and I found out that "alba" means "dawn". Dawn is my middle name irl, and I'm Scottish, so it all tied in rather nicely ;D

 

I think Albion means Britain, excluding Ireland? I'm not 100% sure on that, but I have a vague memory of reading that somewhere. But historically that can sometimes amount to what we now know as England. So I am really not sure of the exact connection, but there is one for sure. :)

Welcome Dawn!  Like you I also am former AT member (also known as Jewel there) though I had been a quite a long break from the boards and Tarot.  Though new to this community (just a couple of days lol) just reading the board reminds me very much of AT when I was there and it really feels like home.  Hope you find that sense of community as well.
