EmpyreanKnight Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 This professional-quality deck is a must for those who need their cards to stand up to heavy use. The larger cards make the details of the images easier to see, and the high-quality card stock ensures a long life. Containing all the elements of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, this deck is perfect for professional readers, teachers, workshop leaders, and serious students. Readers will recognize familiar scenes while being delighted by the uncluttered adaptations and sophisticated use of color. The box measures 4.5in × 8in x 2.2in, so just imagine how big the cards are. I have the Golden Universal - maybe I should think about getting its big bro.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 22, 2018 Author Posted January 22, 2018 This deck is now on sale on the Llewellyn site. I wonder how big the actual cards are tho. All the sites I've encountered list the box size as around 4.5" X 8", yet there's no word on the size of the cards. There was a previous release in 2009, but I think the box then was smaller and the whole deck is lighter, so the cards were also smaller.
Magickjack Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I got the standard gold also and that's gonna have to be enough for me. I love the gold but the faces took some use to getting to. I do get a lot of compliments on it when I use it though. Now, this is a great size and I have to say, I'm in love with those backs.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 I also have the Golden Universal and yup, it's a headturner alright. :D My only gripe with it were the mature Pages, but I eventually got used to them so it was all good. I considered getting the Universal before, but with the arrival of this Goliath of a deck, well I know which version I'd get if it came to that. :)
gregory Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 The cards in the original edition are HUGE. Unusable for reading, IMHO. Not shuffleable, either. But great for teaching, I expect. I will measure them later - but I bet they are the same size. 8 inches wouldn't surprise me at all.
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 You dont know how much this sends shivers down my spine. I like my cards GINORMOUS. Thanks, gregory! :D
