rylla Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) Old theme but always fun, if you would get to a deserted island for a year which 5 decks would you take with you? My choice would be: The Tiger tarot (which is still in the mail but I am not leaving until I get it) Ritual tarot Swedish Witch (Jolanda) tarot Wait! I can't leave yet, I have to wait for the Solara Oculto too Daniloff tarot and of course the Terracotta tarot if I'd have it but I can't find it Edited July 9, 2023 by rylla
fire cat pickles Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I would have to take one type of each: 1. A TdM: Flornoy's Noblet 2. A Minchiate: Minchiate Solleone (Constantini 1980) 3. An RWS: Fantastic Managerie 4. Playing Cards: Hoyle Waterproof (clear) Playing Cards 5. Oracle: Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards
Mi-Shell Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Deserted island for a year - hmmm!? Since there would be nobody to read Tarot for I would only take my Greenwood Tarot Ironwing Tarot However, travelling in our motor home for longer than our usual 3 month I would also ad Tarot of the Southwest Sacred Tribes my expanded Medicine Cards oracle deck and for continuing my current studies of shamanic Plants Alchemist's Garden Tarot and its ever growing personal Plant study compendium 🙂
gregory Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Sweet Twilight Thoth (because there's ALWAYS more to learn) A TdM - not sure which (ditto) Two more - I shall have to think.
Jewel Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) Oh how fun sign me up to go to a deserted island for a year (with my Shih Tzu). Only taking 5 decks would be really tough, but thank goodness you have no limit on how many books or journals I could take! 😆 So these are the five I would take: 1. The Faeries Oracle - they are like the old American Express card, I never leave home without them. They have been in my purse for close to 20 years 😆 2. Alice Tarot by Magic Realist Press - that is my grail deck so frankly if I could only have one Tarot deck this would be it. 3. Thoth deck - I have been saying for over 20 years that I was going to dedicate study time to this deck and have yet to do it, so with a whole year on a deserted island I am sure I could finally find time to do that AND write a review! 4. The Cosmic Tribe - I have loved this deck since I first laid eyes on it. A nice cross between the RWS and Thoth and strong elemental usage. Since it would be just me and my pup no one would be offended by the naked people 😜 5. The Herbal Astrology Oracle - this has turned out to be a soul deck for me ... quite surprising as not my usual sort of thing. I would mourn leaving behind in no specific order: Tarot of the Sweet Twilight, Fantastic Menagerie, Green Witch, Magical Dogs, Everyday Witch, Fey (Lo Scarabeo), Bohemian Gothic, Druid Craft (and all of its companion oracles), Joie de Vivre, and all of my crystal oracles. But I could live for a year without them to take advantage of this opportunity 😁 Edited August 10, 2023 by Jewel
Mi-Shell Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 We are actually going on a long trip - 3 months to Nevada September 1st to mid December. I am packing the motor home and on board are: - my mini Greenwood Tarot, - the small version of the "Songs for the Journey Home" - the expanded version of the Medicine Cards - to read for my NA sitters 🙂 - my Alchemical Garden shamanic Plants deck - my Siberian Drum Oracle This way I do have something for me to study and something with which to read for others with.
Guest Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 I'll be taking the following: Heaven and Earth Thoth Sol Invictus: The God Minchiate Etruria Sola Busca
Guest Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 It's really a tough choice! I guess I will bring with me my favorite Astromatrix Tarot, Spiritual Awakening, The Starseed Oracle, Work Your Light Oracle, and Twin Flame Ascension decks.
Rodney Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Deserted island means I would be alone and I'm going to assume without internet connection, so I wouldn't be reading for anyone else. So I would take 5 decks to study: Thoth A TdM A Minchiate An Egipcios Kier A Lenormand And since I'm choosing to go to a desert island, it would have electricity for my laptop and external monitors even if I don't have internet, a cabin with desk and a comfortable bed, and a magically replenished supply of food and beverages. 😁 OH! And I get to take some books with me to help me in my studies!
DanielJUK Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 @Rodney I guess being marooned on an island with some of our comforts from home but no internet and only 5 decks is still quite a challenge 😆
Nemia Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Oh I love this question, and I wish someone would send me to a quiet little island for a year! I'd like to go to the Åland archipelago, please. Oh please! I'd take my Thoth of course, I never go anywhere without it. I'd take my old smaller version, my reading deck. I'd also take the Tabula Mundi to continue studying it in-depth. The Abyss and Silhouettes for readings. And if's really Åland , then of course I'll also take my Mythologia Fennica. That would be the ideal place to study it and work with it, maybe do some nature magic...

Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 'Deserted island' does not preclude taking people with me, so I would take minimally my husband and two poodles, but... maybe some other family and friends, too. Decks: 1. Hand painted 'Illuminated Tarot' original version by Carol Herzer; 2. Hand painted 'Illuminated Tarot' Starlight Rainbows edition by Carol Herzer'; 3. 'Spirit Keeper's Tarot' Revelations second printing edition by Benebell Wen; 1. 'Playful Heart Tarot' by Kitten Chops; and 5. 'Guardian of the Night Tarot' by MJ Cullinane.
