Tom Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I want to use Oracle cards and learn how to use them. I recently started studying the Lemormand system. I started to read a book about them, but the author says that you must use the Lenormand deck to do her lessons. I like Lenormand, but I have found myself strongly drawn as if by a magnet to The Folk Cards of Destiny. I want to use those cards, but I am not sure it's the best place to start. What deck do you think I should use and why?
Wyrdkiss Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Oracles are highly personal because they are almost always themed. What is nice about this is you can select one that fully appeals to you, and the choices are myriad. The down side is each oracle is limited in scope, but easily be used for serious questions in my experience in conjunction within the greater totality of tarot. On occasion I read just oracles by themselves as well, when I need a hit from that certain perspective. Get as many as you like, you'll find you grab the right one at the right time. enjoy and I hope this is helpful.
DanielJUK Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Just a FYI about our card sections @Tom. We divide the deck systems into sections where members have different interests in the groups. Ultimately all the card systems are "oracles" but dividing them makes it easier here. So there is Tarot and then this section Cartomancy, Cartomancy systems tend to be the historic decks that are from Europe. this would include the Folk Cards of Destiny (I think), Kippers and Playing Cards. Separately from this we have a Lenormand section as members wanted their own section. The Oracles section is any deck which doesn't fit into those other areas, they tend to be the mass-produced and self-published decks with their own system and structure. I think choosing a system is about researching it and if it fits what you want to use it for. Often you will have to learn the structure. A lot of cartomancy systems work by combinations as a message (whereas tarot and oracles tend to be individual cards mostly). I think ultimately it's about artwork you like or a system you really want to learn 🙂 . If you are interested in the Folk Cards of Destiny, I would read up on it online, look for resources or any posts about it on google or any other search engine. I haven't been able to find any threads here about it. In the end you just have to buy the deck and see how it goes, they mostly have a little book with it to help.
