When do the books I have been reading, had suggested that if I read Oracle cards for others, then I should not allow them to touch the deck. When I read tarot cards, I always let the seeker shuffle the cards and divide them into three piles while concentrating on their question.

is there any reason that any of you can think of that I shouldn’t treat oracle decks like tarot decks?  The only time I pick cards out of the deck for other peoples readings has been by remote read via video chat. If I have the person present, I would like to have them shovel and think about the question.

LOL half the books out there are written by idiots imo.

These rules are silly.

I used to let clients shuffle my tarots to make a connection with the client ... but work in a busy shop and you'll discover that clients will ruin your cards and cost you a small fortune as you have to replace your decks.

I don't let other people touch my cards as a general rule ... only trusted friends who have their own tarots and know how to shuffle properly.

Also now a days most of my clients are via zoom or facetime ... so they're not going to touch my cards anyway.

The connection I make with a client is mental / energetic. They don't need to touch my cards.

Some readers do like this form of connection to form a physical link.

There is no rule. It's highly personal and depends on many factors like how does YOUR intuition work best? Are you reading online or face 2 face? etc.

Yeah I am worried about damaged decks, so when I read for people face to face I don't let them touch the decks, or maybe just to cut them.

Thanks for the replies.  I have only read for people in person with an online reading or two. Many of the people I've read for were friends of mine who respected my things.  I have read for strangers at a few events at no charge-- they were small events.

I don't want my card ruined either. I will be visiting with family in March and they really want readings.  I can ask them to wash their hands and dry them well before I let them shuffle. So it's not going to be many hands. I'll give to think on it.

I am retiring next year.  I would like to read for people for profit. I can buy some cards just for that purpose or just have them put two fingers on the deck and concentrate on their question and shuffle for them. I have so many beautiful decks, I would like to read with more than one deck of cards and want to protect them so I appreciate your advice.

Any other advice is welcome.

Other than protecting the decks from too many dirty hands and unskilled shuffling  ... consider energy or vibes.

I have some decks which are personal/private for me. I seldom or never use them for a client.

Some I use mostly for clients.

Many decks I use either way ... myself or client.

Experiment and see if you like to keep a private deck or maybe you don't care.

@Misterei good Idea. I'm not going to use any of my fine art decks for readings for others, unless it's my spouse.  If I end up doing readings for clients I think it's a good idea to pick a couple of decks just for that purpose.
