Fan Me with a Kipper

I've seen Kipper decks around a bit and looked at a few resources, but for some reason it's never gelled with me in the same way as Lenormand did.

Would anybody like to share what they think are the unique selling point of Kipper cards? What do they do differently to other oracle decks? What kind of reading are they particularly good for?

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, the allure is there but its always been hard finding the right resources to learn from.

When I used to read with them a lot more, I found they were great for readings that involved human relationships/interaction, or anything with lots of people involved.

There's so much to be gleaned from the people cards in Kipper, what's above them, behind them, below them, etc. You can really get to understand people's motives with this deck. This is also what makes a GT difficult with them too in my opinion.

I remember I ordered something off of Etsy, and the seller was being really weird about it, almost gaslighting me! 😅 So out came the Kipper cards, did a box spread around the MP1 card and it showed me all I need to know about the person's motives and intentions (and how they'd lied). It just seemed clearer than if I'd of done the same with Lenormand cards.

That being said, I think any deck can be used for anything, if you're willing to learn how it speaks for each 'genre' of question. There's Kipper cards for spirituality, finances, business, love, theft, legal matters, etc so it can be used for all of those topics right out the box 😊

I'm now wondering how effective it would be to blend the two decks together, removing any obvious duplications. I doubt I'm the first either - I noticed one publisher selling a combined Lenormand / Kipper deck today.

I have read of people doing that, I think people have done it with the Fin de Siecle, and the 'original' Kipper brand also does a lenormand too 😊 it would be worth experimenting! Though fox and false person might be tricky as they're quite similar...

Yes, and of course both decks also have equivalents of the Man and Woman cards.

Maybe it would be worth removing some cards if you want to mix them? Either keep the man and woman and remove the Kipper ones or the other way round, I reckon it could be fun to try though 😁

I really love Kipper cards, they have given me some amazing readings over the years, for myself and for others. The people cards make them good for relationship type readings. Somehow I find a stronger connection with the different cards than other cartomancy and Lenormand is my second fave. For me, the cards fit life experiences better; marriage, work, journey, etc. I really love the Mystical Kipper Deck (there is also a Lenormand). The artwork in both, by Urban Trösch, really connects with me.

The problem with Kippers is that it never became as popular as Lenormand with the English-speaking divination world and so there isn't that much English language materials. Just a few books and decks are translated.

Yeah, the only other common deck I can find is Fin De Siecle, but the Victorian subject matter kinda puts me off for some reason. Mystical Kipper isn't to my usual taste, but it's clearly been lovingly crafted by the artist. I have a cheap-ish deck on order called the Rainbow Kipper, mostly because it's the only one I could find that comes with an English manual, although I do kinda appreciate the minimalist style of the cards. I often find, when you're working with a Grand Tableau, if the art is too detailed then all the cards have a tendency to blend together and it becomes difficult to pick out any specific one. That's what put me off the 'Siren's Song' joint Lenormand-Kipper deck. Beautiful art, but so detailed that it makes my eyes go fuzzy!

@Doktor_Zeus The discussions we've been having in the Lenormand thread you recently made has had me getting more interested in exploring Kipper cards as well.  Looking at some of the decks and reading about the cards, I think having strong, defined images with 'obvious' intentions would be best.

This discussion started to go off-topic by discussing mixing them with Lenormand. I've moved those posts into this thread, which is a better place for them -

Just reminding us that this is what this discussion is about....
