Your Favorite Travel Deck/s?

What are YOUR favorite travel decks?

Going to Hawaii May 29 for a month.

Yes, I'm THAT person who plans my luggage 2 months in advance [helps me pack light].

I'm thinking I will bring Centennial RWS in a tin and Eduard Dotti by Valenza.

I may get some client readings and this covers both bases for RWS and Pip deck.

Both are small and easy to pack. Both are replaceable should Something Bad happen.

Centennial in a tin went to India with me twice ... so it's a seasoned traveller 😉

How fun, going travelling! 😀

A dear tarot friend once told me off for not always having a deck on me. She always had a deck in her bag at all times!

If I am travelling I often have a mini RWS, I wish it came in a tin. I prefer it to the Centennial but no tinned version yet. I often have a Lenormand with it.

When I am travelling, I really use mobile app decks a lot. That is why I don't always have a physical deck. I have all my faves on my phone!

OMG!!! I'm a huge fan of Kindle b/c books are so damn heavy ... but I can't bear Tarot apps. I've not modernized that far yet 😉

I always travel with one or two actual physical decks.  Apps don't do it for me.  Most of my clients are remote, so I may get client requests while I am away from home.  Plus reading for myself, friends, and family is a fun activity.

I do have a mini Starlight Rainbows deck by Carol Herzer if I am being driven around doing errands and I want to do a study/practice read in the card.  Otherwise, I pray for guidance each time.  Two that are frequent traveling companions with me these days:  one of my hand painted Carol Herzer decks; and the Playful Heart Tarot by Kitten Chops.

I have quite a book reference library and started to have kindle books for the ones that have ebook versions. It's so much easier to look up stuff and references with them. So I have started using books on kindle more and more 🙂

Tarot Apps are fun, I have had a good degree of accuracy, but it depends on who makes it and the algorithm used. For me, it must be as totally random as a deck. I wouldn't use it for a big reading or for someone else (unless they really wanted that option) but it's great for single and small card pulls. I am lazy with daily draws these days, so my phone does it for me. It's pretty right about the day 🙂 .

This brings-up some interesting points. Although I randomize the deck ... I don't feel the card selection is random. It feels mystical and magical. I thumb through the deck before fanning and selecting cards ... so have the feeling that my higher mind is guiding my hand. Even with my eyes closed. Prolly superstition ... Then again some of it is simply a HUGE resentment that i'm forced to interact with machines, AI, and apps far more than I would choose.

As you feel comfortable with tarot apps ... Curious why you wouldn't read a client using an app?

Although I mostly close shop during trips ... I still offer email readings or read for long-term clients. So I want travel decks that will do that.

My immediate go-to when I travel are the Heaven and Earth Tarot with its very sturdy box and the Barbara Walker Tarot in a tin. But really, I can just take whatever deck or set I want. I simply wrap them in thick towels within a luggage bag and they're good to go.

Hi Akhilleus! Nice to "see" you again. I find I like smaller decks for travel b/c I never quite know how much room I will have to lay a spread. The smaller "tiin" Decks nearly always fit on a small table or desk. Larger decks ... not so much 😉

Howdy @Misterei! Been a busy bee this year, only got a bit of a breather for the next few weeks before I wade into them papery waters again lol.

I rarely go beyond five cards in a reading, but I can see how bigger spreads can pose a problem if one has larger cards.

Nice to see you when real life calms down 💖

Yes, I figured you must use smaller spreads. Reading for a client I use 10 for the budget priced email reading ... and for actual live clients it's prolly 17-24 cards by the time we've spent 45 mins or whatnot.

For myself I do use smaller spreads. I've been practicing with Lenormand ... so I hope my "mini" deck arrives soon. LOL I barely have room for a grand tableu at my real house much less a hotel or B&B with tiny little table 😉

Anything small; I have a mini-RWS and a pocket Hanson-Roberts.

I do have some pocket sized Tarots, but my purse decks are usually Lenormands. Sometimes Kippers or Italian Sibilla.
A mini Lenormand can easily fit in my wallet, right in that pocket thingie with the debit cards and ID. With room to spare!
