Seven of Pentacles: Failure

 

Stripped of armor, his sword and shield broken, a knight grieves beside a single drooping flower in the Waste Land for the failure of his quest. Seven stars in the dark sky recall the Seven Mothers of the World, or Pleiades, who used to announce the period of infertility associated with sacred kings’ dying. Seven pentacles mean a death-period of inertia, frustration, lost opportunities, abandonment of vision, demotivation, deceived or fading hope.
