Hello,

I'll post here as Celine - I'm not used to forums etc so I hope to get the hang of it soon.

I first started looking into Tarot for illustration purposes (personal, not professional) and...discovered a whole new world. So here I am, RWS (and I have promised myself not to buy another deck before being thoroughly comfortable with this one), still reading (though I now struggle to find writers who engage me as much as Rachel Pollack and James Ricklef), journalling like never before.

You might already know what's coming : I'm hoping to get to read the cards for other people (like Tarot "buddies", for practice and learning!). In my environment no one else is interested in Tarot and frankly people think I'm just being silly. I hope to be able to continue learning and practicing. The joy it brings me is just huge.

Have a wonderful day or evening,

Celine.

Thank you - it might part of the great pleasure I have in all this, the way it branches out on stories, mythology, symboles etc ! A whole new field of study for me !

Oh yeah, tarot is so broad and versatile. The historical context, the Jungian stuff if you're into it, the alchemy, astrology, you can take it in so many directions. You can spend a lifetime on it and still discover new branches. Take your time and enjoy.

You are doing great so far

Do ask here or contact any of the forum staff if you need any help around the place

When you get to 5 posts, you can access the reading and exchange areas of the forum. You can offer readings and get feedback in return, in a safe environment to practice. Also we have monthly exchanges where you are paired with another member for an exchange, they launch for signing up at the beginning of every month. There are a lot of ways you can practice here.

It's so easy to get obsessed with different decks now-a-days. Having the self-discipline to thoroughly study a classic [like RWS] is a wonderful way to learn.

It's THE BEST feeling when symbolism within tarot, and even the cards themselves, start clicking together and all of a sudden, you've unlocked deeper meaning and added a whole new element to your readings... this was me this past month! Welcome to the forum @GreyBug

Hey Celine,

welcome to the forum! I'm new here too.

I totally get it when you don't have anyone to practice with. But I'm also here to say that we've come to the right place!

We do have sections where people can practice with other people. Firstly, you need to get to 5 posts as the reading and exchange areas are only visible to people with 5 forum posts. Then there are practising options around the place. There are exchange areas, where you can offer readings, tarot is the busiest but there are Lenormand / Cartomancy/ Divination / Oracle other areas. You can also get help with a reading. Also some members offer readings in the exchange area. We require feedback in return for all readings. We do monthly reading exchanges where you are paired with other forum members and a really fun way to practice. The current ones are on the link in my signature when you get to 5 posts. They open at the start of the month and sign-ups close and the exchanges begin around the second week of the month. We offer lots of ways to practice here 🙂
