Hello admired Tarot readers!!

I've been learning Tarot full-time since August, and I'm totally hooked. It's been fascinating, and it's been a journey.

A while back, a fellow learner showed me the book she was using, and it seemed pretty complicated. I thought it wasn't for me, but I guess it just wasn't my time. But this August, I had a lightbulb moment: "It's time to learn!" So, I got my first RWS deck, read a bunch of books, and started with Mastering the Tarot by Eden Gray. Then,  WTF is Tarot? by Bakara Wintner, Mastering the Tarot by Paul Fenton-Smith, Tarot Tips by Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone, and now I'm reading Tarot Reversals by Mary K. Greer.
After reading my first book, I started practicing with my sister, a friend, and myself. I don't have anyone else around who wants readings, and my husband hates it, so one day I decided to put up some posters around town offering free readings by email so I could practice. I've received messages requesting readings, and the feedback has been positive. Do you think this is a good way to practice?
I took a break for a few weeks because since August I haven't stopped, dedicating many hours every single day. I know it's a job of years and that you never stop learning, and that I'm still in the first step.

I've been reading this forum for a while, and I find the information shared very valuable. It is helping me clear doubts that otherwise I would not have found the answer. Today, I've decided to register, even though I'm pretty new and I'm not sure if I can contribute much. I'd love to be part of this community. ☺️ Thanks to all.

Welcome to the community @Arkana :animated-smileys-signs-085:😀 I'm glad you have found us here on your learning journey :78496:

You picked a great selection of books to cover all the different angles, and reading in your local area is a great way to learn! Practising gives you experience, once you learn the theory and ideas, you have to see how it turns out for yourself. For me, I have formed my own views of the cards by actually using them, like my perspectives have changed by seeing how it all turns out and it's constantly evolving. The only problem I see with your free readings is it gives you practice and experience, but perhaps when you feel confident, you should ask for money for them or for reviews / testimonials for them. Maybe something more than just offering them for free. Your time is valuable when you work on them 🙂 .

Thank you @DanielJUK for your welcome.

It is certain that when I have more practice and experience I can start doing paid readings. Now I don't have enough experience, but I find the reading exchange and the forum activities very interesting and I will certainly participate.

What I have experienced when I send the readings is that some people are certainly ungrateful and after sending the reading they have not even contacted me to thank me. I imagine that the reading was not correct or that they did not read what they expected, although any feedback, even if it is to tell me that I am wrong, is always positive for me to continue learning.

Then there are other grateful people who have responded to me to tell me that they feel identified with the reading and that what I have told them fits their situation.

Also, when they first contact me to say they are interested in the free reading, I reply that they can send me their question. When they respond, they send me at least three questions, once they sent me a list of 15.

I have started to limit the number of questions and not to do readings for the same person for two months.

I think this is a small part of what you experience when you do paid readings.

I've worked in front of the public for many years and I know what it's like to deal with people, sometimes it's difficult and I can't imagine what it must be like to deal with people like professional readers.

oh that makes me so sad, please have boundaries, like they can have one free reading with one question or something like that. I think other people interested in tarot or learning it and the general public are different crowds and it's possible for the public to ask for more and more. Make it easier on yourself, they should be honoured to get a reading ❤️

If you do want to offer readings here when you get to 5 posts, you can offer an exchange how you want to do it. Members tend to be easier here though and wouldn't be ungrateful. Or you can do one on one in a reading circle. I think it could be useful for you because you would get constructive feedback on the reading and we chase people to make sure there is feedback. The intention of the forum is that someone does the work for a reading and gets feedback in return, it always balances. Or someone asks for help with a reading and second opinions, members help and then the original person gives feedback on the help. It's supposed to be a circle, so you get something back.

Anyway let me know if you need any help with exchanges when you get there 🙂 .

Hey, thanks so much you both for the warm welcome and all your support.

I really liked what you @DanielJUK said about people interested in tarot or learning it and the general public are different crowds.

I know the exchanges and readings here are moderated, and I'm sure it'll be a great experience.
