Hello, everyone - I am a UK author and I've recently self-published my first two-part novel, entitled Once Upon a Tarot Card.

It is listed on Amazon, and it follows the life of a young girl who is given a deck of Tarot cards as a child, and the readings she does are illustrated throughout the book.

When I first started writing the story I toyed with the idea of 'planning' the cards drawn in the spreads, but this just didn't feel right.

I finally decided to do real readings for my characters, and this allowed the cards to have a say in the narrative of the plot - at times, they even controlled the direction it went in. It did make things a little more challenging, because my rough draft had to be altered several times when the cards disagreed with it! I think their input did cause things to work out for the best, however.

These are links to it here in the UK... it is also listed on Amazon.com, but I believe because it has to come from my publisher in London there might be a bit of a wait for it. Thanks for looking!

Thank you! I enjoyed writing it, and I liked how at times I would have to approach my cards differently. The readings in the book were usually done by my main character, but a few times her friends or roommates did a reading, and then I had to interpret them as I felt that character would see them.

It was a learning experience, as was painting the covers. It made me really appreciate artists who can design entire decks, because doing just these two was difficult enough!
