coinilius Posted June 22 Posted June 22 A while ago I was working on a couple of decks (Tarot and Lenormand) for my own personal use, which I got printed out, and have recently been looking at them again. I used the CBD Tarot de Marseille by Dr. Yoav Ben-Dov as the basis for my Tarot decks, originally just as an exercise to edit them and recolour them digitally. After completing that project, though, I decided to create an alternate set of Majors, based on my own interest in re-ordering the sequence of the cards. I reordered the Majors based around the Wheel of Fortune as a ‘centre-point’ card, around which the others form different sequences and mirrored sequences. Don’t worry, I don’t expect anyone to be interested in my weird personal Tarot trump sequence lol But I took a picture of the edited Majors for my personal project all set out, arranged in a way to illustrate the altered sequence, and thought it might be cool to show people. I also created two extra cards for the sequence, which are basically split-off from other cards - L'Initié (The Initiate) and La Terre (The Earth). Because these were just for my own personal use, I used the La Consultante card from the El Gran Tarot Esoterico deck as reference for my L'Initié card (the El Gran Tarot Esoterico is own of my favourite decks). For my La Terre card I used images of Atlas for reference, particularly a really neat medieval woodcut looking image (again, these cards were just for my personal use). If anyone is interested I can show some close ups/better pictures of the cards.

What does this card signify to you when it comes up in a reading? I didn't see the other additional card that you made. But the upper part of the image is grainy on my screen. So I can't read the card titles there and not see the infrared well. Would you share a second picture of the cards in the upper half?

When I click on any image in a post on this forum, it opens a pop-up which is very clear and I am also able to enlarge it. BTW, the OP's Initiate card is the one depicting a naked woman between the Fool and Magician. Edited August 21 by geoxena
Croat Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Very interesting, and thank you for sharing. Haven't thought of doing what you did, but now the idea is planted! I have idly thought of merging favorite cards from different decks to create an "all star" deck, but reluctant so far.

I am sorry, I hadn't checked back here in a while and missed your post. I will share better images of the cards. As @geoxena described, the Initiate card depicts a naked woman, and represents other aspects of the High Priestess/Priestess card which are not necessarily depicted in the La Papesse card. She represents the 'female counterpart of the Magician' side of the card, compared to the female counterpart of the Pope/Hierophant. The image is referenced from the La Consultante card from the El Gran Tarot Esoterico (painstakingly redrawn lol). La Terre is similar in that it depicts aspects of the World card, as well as a kind of pause and reflection, before the Judgement card - like a 'You Are Here' aspect, taking in the whole picture. @Croat that sounds like a great idea! I have wanted to work on 'extra' cards to have alternates of other historical or interesting cards, such as a version of the Tower as the lightning bolt striking a tree. You should give it a go - I really enjoyed working on this deck, just as a personal project.
