VGimlet Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 I'm in this week with the Shadowrun Tarot - found my way to the new home, yay!
Flaxen Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'm in this week with Dame Fortune's Wheel which I'm going to pair with the Enchanted Spell oracle (arriving in the post today!). The latter is based on medieval herbalism and the artwork is a good complement to Dame Fortune's Wheel. It will be interesting to see how they work together. Flaxen - Dame Fortune's Wheel and The Enchanted Spell Oracle
jema Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'll bring out the Stretch tarot this time around.
Bodhiseed Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Idiosyncradeck / Mixed Emotions Glad our 'tarot and tea table' is back!
Page of Ghosts Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Waaah, I don't know what to pick! I thought the Medieval Cats were fun, but they are very straight to the point kind of cards, not much room for mystery and wonder. Which is super nice actually, but as I'm kinda tired recently I only do 1 card a day instead of a spread so it doesn't give me as much with that one card as I'd like. And Paulina is still being used to type up the Lunar Ecxlipse Reading.... Maybe the wacky Deviant Moon could be an option. Together with Joie de Vivre as a contrast! That's it then ;D Page of Ghosts - Deviant Moon Tarot and Joie de Vivre Tarot
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Just the Thoth for me. Thanks! EmpyreanKnight - Thoth
VGimlet Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 I didn't expect much from the Shadowrun tarot, especially since it's a gaming based deck, but I really like it. The tower is the Space Needle being hit by lighting, or a meteor maybe. (Since I live near Seattle I got a kick out of that especially) but I'm enjoying it immensely so far.
Whisper Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Thought I might try my newly acquired Tarot of the Hidden Realm this week.
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 It's strangely quiet here this week. Are people getting ready for Valentines? ;)
Flaxen Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 It is a bit quiet. I'm enjoying my decks though. The Enchanted Spell oracle is proving easy to read with. The book details traditional lore and suggest spells for each card. I hadn't heard of the Shadowrun before - sounds interesting!
VGimlet Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 It is quiet. I've just had a busy week - getting ready for our dog club's specialty show, and our national show, as well as the pesky and annoying thing we call work, LOL. Shadowrun just keeps growing on me more. weird.
Whisper Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 A question, if I may... Can we also post readings with our deck of the week, here, together with talking about it, etc.?
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 We've done that before, so I don't think there'll be any problem with that, Shivani. :)
Whisper Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 We've done that before, so I don't think there'll be any problem with that, Shivani. :) Thank you, EK. :D
Whisper Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 The first thing I want to share is that I am in love with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm which is strange because I usually like decks with bigger cards. It is one of the most most evocative and tender Tarots I have ever seen. Apart from connecting with it, it must be because the cards depict faces, for the most part, and they take up the whole card. The expressions are amazing and the energy of this Tarot just touches me. In the first reading I did (a "meet you" reading), the Knight of Cups appeared and the strangest feeling came over me. It was as though I had known this person for a long time. He keeps falling out when I'm shuffling as a precursor to the exploration of whatever question I am consulting the Hidden Realm about. Here he is. Look at this young man and his expression! Wistful, gentle..., really valuing the experiences of the heart. Here, is also my second experience with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm. 1 2 3 1. From the shuffled Minors only: What will my experience be, today? 2. From the shuffled Court Cards only: Who will be my guide, today? 3. From the shuffled Majors only: Who will be my teacher, today? 1. 9 of Swords My experience will be one of compassion; compassion towards myself and others who are visiting me professionally, today. 2. Queen of Cups She sees and understands the souls of others and is not afraid to feel. She understands that the very circle of life isn't always peaceful and easy and includes death and pain. She will help me deal with the world and those I will meet by seeing it and them with the eyes of the heart. 3. XV Shadowdancer This faery is teaching me, today, that I must, amidst all my responsibilities and duties also enjoy myself (something I forget to do, sometimes, due to the demands of life) without being over-indulgent. That I really must strike a balance; a recurring message, actually, since the beginning of the year. I really like this daily and this Tarot hasn't let me down. These are some of the words from the accompanying book for each card I drew: 9 of Swords She has been running and fighting for so long that she has forgotten what it is like to be still. Even though it is over, she cannot relax. She crouches, ready to spring into action if necessary. How long has she been here? she wonders. Long enough that her body is no longer racked with heaving gasps... . As her heart and mind slow, she feels the night air warm on her skin... . Now that the exhaustion is starting to fall from her, she faces a decision: what to do next. ... An owl lands nearby, apparently unafraid. She watches him without moving even as downy soft whispers brush her skin, falling like the tears she cannot yet release. ... He stays with her until all that she's seen, all that she's lived through, is relived through the eyes of compassion and wisdom. Queen of Cups Entering the chamber, dark yet luminous, you are greeted by exquisite music softly filling the empty space, as if it were coming from the very air itself. ... Relaxed, you breathe deeply. ... You are completely saturated with feelings. ... She turns, the woman holding court in this fey place. She is soft and inviting, like the deep blue velvet of her gown, like an ocean you would happily drown in. You want to connect with her. You ... want to create something. ... She offers you a beautiful cup of you know not what. You know that if you drink from it, you will be changed and nothing will ever be the same again. You look into her strange eyes and wonder if you have the courage. XV Shadowdance With his stately antlers and intricate green tattoos, he all but disappears into the background. He is so very much a part of the ancient energy of the forest that they don't even notice him. ... [They] are so enthralled with each other. ... Oh, it is all so decadent, this celebration of the senses, so magical and intense. It would be sin, if sin exists, to deny and wsste such an opportunity. He knows the lure all too well, having embraced in himself once upon a time. Now he knows no other state of being and serves his deity devotedly, welcoming and encouraging others to partake of the joys he has known. ... He leans back against his favourite oak tree and smiles. The oak, he muses, is full of wisdom, but it also attracts lightning.

Tender is a good description of it, and I agree that the expressions on the faces can give a great deal of information. :)

I know that I’m so glad I did. How have you found yours speaks to you? I’m glad that you see what I saw in this Tarot. :) By the way, I really like the quotations in your “signature”, especially the one about the heart becoming more important as one ages.
Flaxen Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 I agree that the Hidden Realm is a great deck - it's very good for readings concerning relationships. In some ways it's like having a deck of court cards as the faces are so expressive and the personalities so distinct.
