When we read into the future, the outcome is not set in stone. This is one possible outcome shown to us, the best prediction in that moment.

 

It's possible it changes....

- we make a conscious choice to change that outcome, we change or do something differently

- we don't realise we have changed the outcome and do something accidentally (for example, in a different time or place to the original predicted direction)

- an external factor changes things, like maybe the situation or other people make choices which change from the outcome.

 

A lot of different factors can change how things turn out.

What Dan said, plus, sometimes we interpret the cards incorrectly. Other times, the question could have been phrased badly (for instance, it might have been based on an assumption which was incorrect) and so the reading became muddled. Lots of variables to consider!

Readings aren't set in stone.  They are not always a predictor of the future; they can be advice, warnings, inspiration, introspection, etc.  Time is another disruptor.  A tarot reading can take place immediately or a year from now.  It could depend on how the question and answer were framed.

Can the cards know exactly when it will happen or if it happened

Pinpointing time is very difficult in reading the tarot.  There are techniques that readers use to get an estimate of time but tarot is not rigid.  Like I said before, a reading is not set in stone, you need to think flexibly when dealing with a reading.

There is an older thread on the forum about methods of timing with tarot if you want to see some techniques...

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "changes in just a matter of weeks". Could you elaborate?
