I used this article a few years ago in my tarot group (which has since been disbanded). It's really interesting and I'm going to copy and paste some of the article to have it here on the site do I'll start by posting all the legal stuff. The article was written by: Lee Ann Obringer, Contributing Writer Lee Ann Obringer holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and advertising with an outside concentration in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to writing for HowStuffWorks, she works as a freelance marketing communications consultant and designer. The website is: https://www.howstuffworks.com/ Copyright © 2018 HowStuffWorks, a…

This thread is intended to inspire those of us who like to make our own tarot bags. So please feel free to share anything and everything that you have made (or talk about what you are planning/wanting to make). Any style, material or method is welcome. (And if you, like me, are not a pro and just make things up as you go along - then all the better! ;D) I started making my own bags after realizing that most store bought ones were designed for those who prefer the classically "witchy" woo-woo style (you know, the bags that always come in either black or purple and are almost always decorated with large pentagrams or other magical symbols). Of course there is nothing w…

I love the music links! It's a wonderful touch, Toadie and Marisa! I have playlists I listen to when I read. If I have a few readings back to back (3 or 4) I really get in the zone and light the incense, put on a wax melt, and fire up my playlists. Even though Industrial music is my favorite music (Rammstein is my favorite band) but for card reading I like music from India, Binaural beats and other types of mind music and trip hop.

I would like everyone's help in compiling this list. I would love for us to gather all the best links in one place so that those who are new to tarot or who wish to do a deep dive into a specific topic, can easily find a great starting point. I can add to this first post as new tips come in. Lets only list resources that we know are trustworthy and of high quality. And entirely free! You can help me with what categories we will add, here are some that I could think of: Educational tarot sites & free tarot lessons http://learntarot.com/ A free online tarot course https://www.thetarotlady.com/breaking-celtic-cross/ A gr…

the common at least far as i know advice today is for a person to start with 3 card spreads before moving on to 5, 7 cards etc.. as the more skill you are the more you can add cards almost like you are leveling up in a video game.. for many the celtic cross may seem old school, an perhaps out of its place old throwback to a time where there wasn't much knowledge made about spreads so you had to do with what you got in the books or little white book . most of your information back in the day before internet and tarot ideas became wide spread ,, the lwb had to have a spread you could use ! so that is how imo,, the celtic cross became the go to spread.. over time you…

I know so little about tarot that I'm not even sure how to make 5 quality posts. A lot of the discussions are way over my head lol. There's also a lot of good information in this part of the forums alone, but there's an overwhelming amount for me. It seems I am well and truly The Fool. I suppose that I'd like to know how other people got started, and what they might recommend? For context, I do have a pip deck. It's an anime themed one. I understand that there is no rush and tarot seems to be something you continue practicing and learning and "mastering" for one's whole life. But I thought it might be helpful (and hopefully okay / not off-topi…

I'm a facilitator of the Capital Tarot Society (DC area). We take turns doing presentations at our meetings. And now that every other month is an online meeting, there are PowerPoints. I'm going to post some of my old (and newer) presentations here in case anybody is interested. (I think the virtues one is the best, but you can decide.) The Virtues of Tarot - 307670772-v1.pdf

Hi I have few questions about Tarot I am total beginner in this topic and I have a bunch of questions and wanted to put them in to one bundle 1)How do you choose your deck ,if you don`t like any decks and you are looking for a year and Nothing clicks? 2)I absolutely love late Maestro Pitsci and his approach of Tarot resonates with me 100% does it means I should go for Marseilles deck? 3)I have one fully functioning hand what card size you would you advice? I can shuffle regular cards but not very well 4)I can fully clear my mind in few minutes with ease is it needed if I am secular reader and my only goal is analyzing my thinking and why I think the w…

So... Who is going to the UK Tarot Conference this year?? I am. And this year I want to meet fellow Tarot travellers, particularly anyone around my neighbourhood so I can banish the "billy no mates" of Tarot (and the esoteric) thing, that I've got going on here. I live in SE London - and I want Tarot Peeps round the corner from me please! So - Own up! Or Book your slot on there. I think there are about 5 spaces left. http://tarotconference.co.uk

I bought this deck a few year ago. It is a reproduction deck, not the original. It is really nice quality deck with good quality stock and colourful printing. Each cards are exactly same as the original cards. I used to have a battered original Thomson Leng deck before this reproduction was bought. But the original deck was sold. Cannot recall how much it was sold for - not much due to poor condition with the age wear on each cards. But because I liked the deck, and regretted selling it, I bought this reproduction deck soon after. But then forgot about it, just leaving it in the drawer for months. A few days ago, I have taken out th…

With the exception of a couple practice readings on my mother, I've only done readings for myself and I don't really do any preparation because I think of it as practice. The readings I did for my mother were a little draining, probably from performance anxiety, but I've seen several pro readers talk about how they have to prepare themselves before/between readings with clients. Do you do anything to prepare yourself energetically (or center yourself, regulate your nervous system, whatever phrasing makes sense to you)?

Hello all, while I've had my tarot deck for a while, it's only now that I'm just starting to use them. One of the ways I decided to practice doing readings was to try to get to know my deck using an interview spread I found on Pinterest, as well as asking it what sort of crystals it would like me to use to recharge it. So I'm curious, how do others in this forum get to know their new decks? Who else likes to interview their decks and what sort of questions do they ask? Or what other ways are there, other than simply using the deck over a period of time?

I really want to trim my Druidcraft. This thing is huge and so hard to shuffle. But 20 Youtube videos later I'mstill too scared to do it. Realistically I can afford to replace it if I stuff it up but I still don't want to ruin the deck. Tell me your deck trimming success stories?

Hi all. A couple of years ago a tarot lady determined the trustworthiness of a new contact for me using the tarot cards. And she was absolutely right. Just now, I could use her advice again, but I don't know what kind of spread / technique she used and I don't remember her contact details. So, I am asking here: Do you know how to determine whether a person is trustworthy using the cards?

A question for y'all based on what we know about ancient temples... For context, almost all ancient temples were built with paramount importance placed on the optical play of light and shadow. This was particularly true when aligned with the movement of sun and/or stars, but regardless temples were almost never oriented arbitrarily or constructed without intentional visual manipulation of pilgrims' subconscious experience. In short, visual staging was a key part of religious experience vis-à-vis ancient temples. Fast forward to today and how you interact with Tarot. Beyond just ritual, do you intentionally manipulate light and shadow when doing…

On the 8th of May 2026 - Sir David Attenborough turns 100! A live event takes place that day at The Royal Albert Hall in his honour, 8.30pm GMT - broadcasting on BBC1 & BBCIplayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2026/sir-david-attenborough-100-years-planet-earth I was thinking (just because)... what Tarot Archetype most embodies Sir David for you? - and Why? I have: 1) The Fool. Left - Tarot Apokalypsis ~ Dunne & Huggens Right - The Gendron Tarot ~ Melanie Gendron. These two renditions of The Fool, express (for me) Sir David's approach to our planet as he has presented it to us through his lifetime - wit…

I’m currently reading Rachel Pollack’s “Tarot Wisdom: Spiritual Teachings and Deeper Meanings”. I was just thinking that it would be neat to either have a book club thread or create a book club group so that people who are interested can read the same Tarot book at a time and discuss it. Is that a thing already that I missed? If not, who wants to do that? I think it would be a really fun club. If we do it, may I suggest this book being the first? It’s AMAZING.

I'm a relative newbie, and I don't quite understand why a deck would be majors only, or how one would use such a deck. Nonetheless, I now own one, because I couldn't resist the art! Any thoughts, musings, answers welcome!

Hi everyone, I posted something similar a few years ago, and at the time, I remember many people disagreed. We even discussed all the hypotheses raised: error in the question, error in the method, error in interpretation... (very common, actually). But, in a very humble way, I want to share that – having played tarot for a long time, both personally and professionally – I think that sometimes tarot simply doesn't work. It doesn't get it right. Why? I don't know. I have some ideas. They all have to do with: tarot is not an exact art. Objective. Cartesian. It's not something that can be replicated thousands of times in an attempt to obtain standardized and 100% accurat…
