Rana George or Andy Boroveshengra?

Recommended Posts

I have both books (Rana George's and Andy Broroveshengra's) and I really do want to learn Lenormand, so who should I go with? Apparently Boroveshengra follows the German system, and George the French.

What is the difference? Is there a big difference? Which one should I start with?

I have Kipper cards, too, so which system would allow to dovetail more easily into Kipper?

Really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Personally, I would stick with Andy B who uses Dutch/Belgian meanings. There are only a few cards which are different but it's important to stick to one source initially so you don't confuse yourself and start trying to mix them up! For example, 'Work' could be Anchor, Fox or Moon depending on system. Just go with Andy's and use only that while you are learning. You can always look at other readers further down the line.

It's a very different reading style from tarot but once you have learnt it, you can pick up Kipper quite easily as it follows the same sort of technique.

Andy B follows the Dutch system and a more traditional approach whereas Rana George follows the French and has her own added spin on it I believe.

I prefer the French system but started out with both the German (traditional) and French. Andy does know his stuff and uses the near distance method like the German women that taught me. The Kipper does this as well.

I like the French though as I found the German style heavy and the Dutch is similar. Traditional itself is quite heavy.

Thank you both very much.  <3

I've heard very good things about learning from Andy's book, so I think, to start with, I will study him. Lenormand looks a little complicated, but I suppose that is true for everything one is not yet that acquainted with. I am determined, though, to learn Lenormand because I do believe it is a very good method.

Do you have any suggestions - (what to start with, what to focus on, etc.)? I appreciate your help very much.  <3

Rana George is my personal choice, as i tend more towards the French System...

And i really like Rana's style.

Welp, if I'm torn between two decks or books, I have a simple solution. I buy them both  >:D

Altho in this case it might end up being counterproductive since it was also suggested to me that I focus on one particular Lenormand system/school so that I don't jumble my meanings. Since you've already started with the Dutch and you seem to like it, you can just continue with it, Shivani.

I have the George, the Boroveshengra, the Anthony Louis and also Caitlin Matthews's tome. From what I have scanned, I like the Matthews book best of all, and since I was told that it employs the Dutch system, I guess I can also use the Boroveshengra one to boost my knowledge later on.

Thanks, EK.  <3 That's the problem. I have three of the books you mention. All, expect the Anthony Louis. Interesting that you like the Matthews best. I started with her, but was overwhelmed. Could be because it was my first exposure to Lenormand. I should return to it. Glad to know she's using the same system. I like what I've seen so far of Andy's book. Simpler, in some way.

Lol it does seem like a textbook at times, but that's what I liked about it. It's quite magisterial. :)

I am thinking about getting into Lenormand and was trying to determine what book to start with.  You sold me on this EK as like you I like this style of book to learn.

So, Jewel, would you be interested in us exploring the Lenormand together? I am an absolute Lenormand newbie, but it would be enjoyable to have a travel companion on this particular journey.

I would be delighted to be your Lenormand companion but I need to purchase a deck and book first (which I am in the process of determining.  I am thinking I am going to get the Gilded Reverie Expanded Edition (will remove extra cards and go to basic meanings of renamed cards when starting out), and get the Caitlin Matthews book.  I will PM you when I have everything.  ;D

Sweethearts,

But to fully share [and hopefully not to add to your confusion] i actually learned first from DonnaLeigh de La Rose. Her Video tutorials on Lenormand are so fabulous, i can't recommend them highly enough! the books came later for me...

Donnaleigh also has a book that is being published by USGames. i think it is coming out sometime this year.

Here is the link to her Lenormand Tutorials [they are FREE!] Enjoy!

Thank you MoonGypsy!  You (and everyone else LOL) are welcome to help Shivani and I on our new venture.  My book came yesterday, still have not had a chance to really look much into it, but I am excited.
