Whisper Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 In the German/Dutch method of Andy B, must there always be a significator in the reading? Should that be always be the Lady (for a female querent or reading for self, if one is a woman) or are there other significators in a three card reading? Is it possible, in this method, not to have a significator and just read the three cards together? Thank you for your help. <3
Victor Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 It should not be always the Man or Woman as a significator. It can be everything, what you associated with the person. A bear for example, for a big guy or men. Fox for a an intelligent person. Etc. You can use every card as an significator in Lenormand.

DanielJUK Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 If I am doing a 3 card reading or a small amount of cards, I don't tend to use a significator. But I do on the larger readings. Significators become complicated when reading for LGBT+ people because you have to pick a card representing yourself and what to look out for a partner or interest (especially in Grand Tableau), some people don't want a Woman representing their partner or lover when they want a male partner, although for me personally I always see it representing "the partner" of a man but I know some people find it heteronormative and don't like it. When I first saw Lenormand taking off online, LGBT people started to use Bear as a male same sex partner and Snake as a female same sex partner. These days, many decks have multiple people cards and cater much better for all sexualities and genders. Victor is really right though, pick what represents you, it's a much better way of doing it. I remember DownunderNZer did some experiments with significators on AT and I am not the greatest fan of them or use them but if you pick one and then do a reading with it, the experiment did produce much more on topic readings. Like say you want to know about love and pick heart. You put heart at the top and deal 3 Lenormand cards under it, it will be much more precise on that topic. If you just dealt 3 cards, it's much more general and I am convinced of them used in that way. So basically, experiment and see if you get better readings with / without them but also pick the one that most represents you in a personal reading or the topic you are reading on <3
Victor Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Thank you Victor. Welcome to TT&M. [emoji4] Just starting with Lenormand, so appreciate your input. Thank you! Lenormand is a very good system for card readers. Don´t forget to count the numbers of the cards, to a one number. So you can get more information of you cards. ;)

Really appreciate your insights. If I may, does one have to have a significator in the reading? If yes, I presume I would have to pick it out of the deck before I choose the cards? Thank you for your help. <3 <3 <3
