54 Devils or PRS Foli - or another?

Just wondering what resources more experienced playing card readers would recommend for a beginner. I have 54 Devils by Cory Thomas Hutcheson and it's a very easy book to read. I'm just wondering if it's light on meanings, though? I have no experience with other books, so I don't know.

Of course, it is possible that I'm too used to Tarot books where they dive deep into each card, and perhaps that's just not possible with playing cards.

I used this book when I decided to learn to read playing cards! I found it immensely helpful. This kind of cartomancy is definitely less detailed than tarot in terms of "the reason behind this event is...", but I found it was super accurate for more fortune-teller style readings.

I've actually been considering working through this book again, I really enjoy it.

Thank you, Albadawn! I was playing with yes/no 3 card spreads, and it would be nice to add another layer to that basic foundation. It looks like a good read and as it's a speed-learning type of book, too. Thank you for the recommendation. :)

P. R. S. Foli's book, Fortune Telling By Cards, is available for free HERE. I haven't read it yet tho.

Thank you!, EmpyreanKnight. I will get round to reading that at some stage as well as Hutcheson's.

I saw a thread earlier today for Anna Cortez's youtube channel and (now) free course, as well! So many excellent resources to choose from!! It's hard, but I thought Moore's is probably a really good starter book. I like that he also has suggested a way to learn the cards with a practice deck that you write on.

You're welcome, Starlight. There are some nice old-timey tomes on playing card and Tarot divination that's available for free online, if you know where to look. :)

54 Devils was the first book that I learned cartomancy from. I've tried learning other sources from the internet but I find the system in 54 Devils is easier to remember, though I find myself trying to incorporate meanings for the cards from other sources too.

It's hard to try and figure out somebody's court cards so I prefer the idea of using a King of Hearts or Queen of Hearts to represent every seeker while the Diamonds and Clubs represent friends and the Spades represent enemies. We all have friends and enemies, right?

I also like the idea of making use of the two jokers which other cartomancers seem to ignore.
