How do you pick your cards for a reading?

Do you pick all cards from the top of the deck or do you pick them random from the deck? Or how do you do?

 

I usually pick mine from the top, but sometimes I pick them random or even from the bottom of the deck.

I pick mine from the top. I tried the fanning/random picking, but it seems like I get drawn to the cards I want to see. :o The top draw is always more objective. :))

I use my gut. ^^ Often I just pull from the top, but often enough recently I'll draw randomly, cut the deck into multiple stacks to draw from or even just drawing from the bottom itself. I don't often fan though--the last few times I tried were okay, just... They tended to be readings I didn't get as easily as when I draw using other methods. Maybe it'll take some time to get used to, but I have a feeling that method just isn't for me unless I'm feeling a real strong pull to do it that way.

After I cut and stack, I always draw from the top tho I'd sometimes pull from the bottom to get a base card. Follow up questions also get drawn from the top tho sometimes I get it from the middle or I re-shuffle. If I'm going to use a large spread, I fan the cards before I pull.

I tend to get a lot of jumper cards so usually they go straight into the spread first, after that (if there’s any spaces left) I’ll take from the top. Sometimes I’ll pull a base card if I feel the need.

 

If I’m doing shadow work I like to pull from the base, although that can get intense pretty quickly!

Mostly I fan and select, cards face down.
