Of all the Pagan Tarot decks, which do you...

The mother of pagan decks is the Greenwood.

Ah yes. I wish I had that one. Not easy to find, though.

The Wildwood is the heir of the Greenwood. Same author, though different illustrators.

This is one area where I disagree 100%

The Wildwood is a total ripoff. Total.

The book is such a disappointment. The cards I am actually able to connect with quite well, but the accompanying book is a different story. I was expecting something similar to the Druidcraft book, but no...

Btw, HERE is a list of pagan and/or wiccan Tarot decks. I didn't know that there were so many!

Thank you, EK.

I have a lot of the decks on that list.  I think of my decks I consider the Witches Tarot, Robin Wood and BOS Volume 1 (As Above) the most pagan.

They all have excellent companion books.  I think Robin Wood you need to get separately.  I love the the book to the Witches Tarot also.  I use the As Above deck the least.  I have the 2nd Volume So Below also and I tend to read with that more than I do the BOS vol 1.

I think I should have bought the Robin Wood instead...

Glad it's not just me who has trouble with the book. I read the whole thing but I found myself re-reading much of it all the time because I couldn't make sense of the sentences. Thought it was just my brain being weird.

I just find it uninspiring and devoid of real substance. The DruidCraft remains one of my favourite Tarots and the book is incredible.

Me too, with the Druidcraft. Recently the Viceversa has been occupying me, but Druidcraft is My Deck. The book is amazing.

Hey Knight, thank you for this list !  ^-^

But I am surprised that the DruidCraft did not make it into this list ?

There are many other ideas though !

Same here! I feel like the lists in Aeclectic are not very complete anyways since they seem to rarely update even the Decks part of their site. :( As of now, they don't even have entries for recently-released decks like the Santa Muerte Tarot, LoS Tarocchino Mitelli, Asherah Tarot, Promethean Oracle etc.

Of all the decks there that I don't have, the Book of Shadows Kit (that has both the As Above and So Below decks!) and the Silver Witchcraft both call out to me the most, Saturn. :)

I, too, love the Green Witch Tarot. I would also say that the Tarot of the Hidden Realm has the most pagan book I have ever read. The prose is beautiful, and the outlook/worldview is completely pagan - there is little to no feeling of either patriarchal tradition or Christianity. (The art is also stunning, but the book really sticks with me.)

<3 I know you're really busy, GreenFaerie, but I do hope you will join us in the Faeries Reading Circle. It'll be once a month, I think.

Thank you so much, Shivani! That's very kind of you. <3 I am indeed very busy - it's gotten so bad that I actually initiated a faculty workload survey at my university, just because I know so many people who are so exhausted, and who are not getting any relief or help from the higher-ups, myself included. But, I will definitely lurk in the Faeries Reading Circle, comment when I can, and if I have a month when I feel like I can join in, I will. :)

I used Robin Wood exclusively for a looong time. But all I have is the LWB.

The Robin Wood, in my personal opinion, is a fabulous pagan RWS style deck.  You can follow the RWS books and understand it, it was my alternative to the RWS since I could not connect or learn with it.  The art just did not draw me in.  The Robin Wood is more Wicca based I suppose is the best way to describe the difference.  If you do not have the Robin Wood Shivani, that is a deck I would recommend to you based on your interests.  Just know that it is not culturally diverse if that is something that is important to you.  It does not come in a kit, so you have to buy the deck and book separately.

Does anyone have the new Celtic Tarot, the one that came out in 2017 ?

I dont really need another celtic deck, being so taken with the Druidcraft already, but this Celtic tarot calls to me nevertheless..... i'd love to know the opinion of someone who has worked with it ?

Been thinking about this before it disappears. Thank you, Jewel. :D

That deck has been around for a very very long time, that is a deck I really fear will disappear, but as they say better to be safe than sorry  :D

I meant that I DO NOT fear will disappear.  I think it has stood the test time and is still sells well so I do think it will be around.  My head was thinking one thing while my fingers typed another LOL.  I got started with that deck sometime in 1991 when it was published and I have never even heard rumors of it going OOP.

That in itself is really interesting. I wonder why it has stayed around this long when so many, even the mainstream ones have gone belly up. It's like the very traditional RWT (which I never liked). That's been around for ages.

Why do you the Robin Wood has endured?

Why do you the Robin Wood has endured?

Because it makes a great substitute for the RWS for those of us that do not connect with RWS art, especially those of us with an earth based (pagan) spiritual interest.  It is a solid deck and includes RWS symbolim and the pagan theme with subtlety which does not alienate non pagans from it.  Like the RWS it is good for beginners and advanced alike as you can dig into the layers of symbolism based on your tarot journey.  I think it is a solid deck that not overdo its theme (meaning it is more general than thematic) and that is why it has endured.

It's like the Aquarian, Hanson Robert and Morgan Greer, solid RWS clones, too classic to disapear any time soon....
