Of all the Pagan Tarot decks, which do you...

Why do you the Robin Wood has endured?

I think it is a solid deck that not overdo its theme (meaning it is more general than thematic) and that is why it has endured.

You are right, I hadn't thought of that but you are correct, it's themed but still widestream too, it's not "in your face" like some other decks wich can be so heavy on their theme that they dont appeal to the general public, outside of the specific targeted group of population (not that the latter would necessarily be a bad thing, but it could impact the longevity of the deck)

It's like the Aquarian, Hanson Robert and Morgan Greer, solid RWS clones, too classic to disapear any time soon....

This exactly, it is right in the same category as all the above noted decks.

I think, then, that it makes sense that it be part of a Tarot collection (like a cannon of sorts, if one can say that of Tarots and Oracles). I'm beginning to think that there could be such a "cannon".

Thanks to this thread, I have just taken out my Tarot of the Old Path that was dormant in a drawer.

I had never really bonded with it, and had not looked at it for a long time, but now I see it with new eyes, and I find it much more attractive than the last time I saw it !

Weird as sometimes we change, isnt it ? It's worth holding on to a "meh" deck sometimes, and see if we change our opinion on it later on ! It's not the first time that this happens to me : I have a deck that I am so-so about, and later on I like it a lot. Sometimes, reading someone's rave review on a deck, can make me fall in love again for a deck that I already had !

I am curious to work a little with the tarot of the Old Path now !  ^-^

Very glad for you, Carojulie. Yes, we do change. I know the feeling. Different frame of mind, life circumstances...  <3

To be honest the decks I usually bond the most with fall in this category, and often times decks I really wanted to connect with end up just not working out for me.  I totally get what you are saying.  I hope you enjoy getting re-acquainted with your Tarot of the Old Path, that deck (and the Robin Wood) were decks I used exclusively for readings for like 3-4 years.  They are the ones I learned Tarot with and I will never part with them.

For those interested, I just posted a deck review for The Tarot of the Green Witch.  It was my "February Deck" in my deck of the month project so I just spent some good quality time with it.

Off to read it because I had my eye on this Tarot and I'm really interested to see what you think of it.

I, too, love the Green Witch Tarot. I would also say that the Tarot of the Hidden Realm has the most pagan book I have ever read. The prose is beautiful, and the outlook/worldview is completely pagan - there is little to no feeling of either patriarchal tradition or Christianity. (The art is also stunning, but the book really sticks with me.)

Don’t assume that Christianity isn’t pagan, just because the early church fathers put that spin on what they wanted people to believe, for control. Jesus used plenty of rituals. Spitting on mud to make a paste to heal the blind man, organization of jugs of water which he then turned into wine, drawing symbols in dirt, telling us to go inside to find the Father...

Has anyone mentioned the Pagan Tarot deck? I looked but couldn’t find it here. But I think it qualifies as a pagan deck. Great deck!

I also like Everyday Witch.

Just added that one over in "What's the Postman Bringing?" under your request for suggestions.  ;D

Actually, it's on my wishlist.

Still waiting to hear about the Sacred India. After that, it'll be The Green Witch and I keep coming back to the Dreams of Gaia...

I’m currently vaccilating between Everyday Witch & Viceversa, with Druidcraft always lurking in the background. Subject to change because I have 3 new decks coming; however, Viceversa has become my go-to, (still, Druidcraft will always be there, watching). Anyone tired yet of my praises for Viceversa? (I’m not...). But I’d like to nominate The Pagan Tarot, it’s great for finding lost items, in your home, vehicle, elsewhere...

Druidcraft is the deck I keep for myself. It is amazing. I have the full book that came with the original and it is the best accompanying book of any Tarot I have ever seen. :)

Nothing wrong with gushing over a favorite deck!  :)  I have to admit you have made me very curious about it.  Do you just randomly flip some of the cards around so that you have the backs of the pictures?  I am not sure I fully understand how to use it.

Definitely the Wildwood deck for me. It's just amazing.

The Raven's Prophecy has a very strong pagan feel too, at least for me. I like this one very much.

Glad I bought the Wildwood. Great to know that you really like it. Haven't worked with it much, yet. The Raven's Prophecy looks interesting. I like the bigger images. What size are these cards, Falcor?

Have to say that I just started with the Green Witch and am finding it lovely.

The size is pretty standard and the quality of the cards is not bad as well. Also I absolutely adore the borders. They give the deck a character.

The Wildwood is a great deck, full of realistic symbolism. It not too negative or too sweet. And that how I like my decks.
