Harmonious Tarot

Hi all!

Does anyone here use Harmonious Tarot? And, if so, can I get your general impression of the deck? I'm thinking about getting it, as it's very lovely, but I'm worried it would feel similar to Renaissance tarot, energy-wise, and though I have that deck and *like* it, I don't love it enough to use it often.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Sandy

I can't fully remember if it was this deck or another one (Wheel of the Year?) who had this weird slavery card a lot of people didn't like! I'll have to google for it to see for sure. It didn't sound very good to me but others might be able to work with this deck still, even if that did put me off of it. Now to see if this deck was the culprit I remembered.. and how bad that card is if it's the case.

Found it! It's the King of Pentacles from the Harmonious Tarot. Leaving it as a link just in case anyone doesn't want to see it. To try and describe the picture he has two child slaves who follow him around as they walk. The children have very dark skin which is painted actual black, not dark brown, with no highlights or shadows (unlike the king who has some simple shadowing) and they have light pink lips. From what I understand this is a pretty common stereotypical way of painting/drawing black people from the time the artwork is from, as I understand it the art is taken from the portofolio of a well-known painter or illustrator from the Victorian era, Walter Crane. And there is of course also the issue that they are slaves.

Thanks, Page of Ghosts[/member]. Yeah...that definitely is not something I'd like to have then. I really appreciate your weighing in. You just made my decision very easy!!!

Thank you, again.
