Blue TUCKBOX Rider Waite deck - who has one ?

When the subject first came up I denied that these existed.  But they do. Just like the early blue box one, with no copyright nonsense on the cards, put our by Rider (no mention of Waddingtons); printed for Rider by Muller - in a blue TUCK box.

When it was finally conceded on AT that this existed (you have to read a lot of the thread and I was one of the first to say NO WAY !)

Holly Voley and Frank Jensen were VERY interested. Since then I know of a number of people who have managed to get copies and I am wondering how many people here own one, as I saw on Dusty White's website that he believed (a little while ago) that only three copies had been verified. I know of more than that personally, so...

I have two of them.

Here is one of them. The other I have disassembled and taken the cards out of the box as that is in a more delicate condition.

He has been TOLD of mine (one), truelighth's and your two...

I found a website today that says this box came BEFORE the two part box, and I bet they went that route because the tuckboxes REALLY are bad !

But did you get the PKT IN your box ? I got one in a box with one of my blue two part boxes; just a little LWB, like the one you show there, in the tuckbox.

No, the PKT came with one of the decks (the first one I bought with the tattier box) rather than actually in the box. It was just the LWB inside the box.

Didn't Le Fanu say somewhere in the AT thread that he has "a couple" of the tuckbox versions? I seem to remember reading that.

I never had that much faith in Dusty White. If he doesn't know something it doesn't exist. That annoys me... ;)

So does the title of his book....

The Easiest Way to Learn the Tarot - Ever !!

Not for everyone it ain't. But it is better than "The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need". I forget who came up with that one...

I have one of these, in the blue TUCKBOX not the two part box, no copyright on the cards. The box is worn and has some tape on one end though. But the cards look good and the booklet is there. They do exist!

Oh I know - I have one too. But they have to be more common than Dusty thinks, so I thought I'd try and get some stats !

Looks like it - and yes, the box is in MUCH better nick than mine - lovely ! The Traveller's is small, yes. It's kind of adorable....

Can't believe it's still up for £21 with two hours to go. Perhaps there will be a last minute bidding war!

£68. That's more like it !

Indeed. It's a lot cheaper than I thought it would go for though, especially with the sealed Travellers. Still, this does helps me to think of a realistic price for my poorly box copy!

I have two copies... bought a while back. One on eBay, one via a Trade at AT

I have two copies, both bought on Evay in the last few months. One of them I plan to sell, but the tuck box is actually damaged. The deck is fine though.

I have passed on the information to Dusty White, but he has been so busy with different activities, that he has no time to updat the webpage. At the time he posted the 'only 3 copies are confirmed' on the site, they were still very unknown and untalked about.

It does look though like this might be the first blue box version, as the Fool is the 'Blushing Fool'.

For those interested: there seem to be several versions of the blue box Rider. The tuck box and several cersions of the 2-part box, with different addresses: Fitzroy Square and Conway Street. It looks like the tuck box came out at around the same time as the USGames 1971 version, as it has the so-called "Blushing Fool".

The Travellers version is actually from later, but very elusive. It really says Traveller's tarot on the box and is much smaller.

I have a blue tuckbox copy too, and although it is (just about) in one piece they were not the sturdiest containers for decks.

Mine came from Ebay some years ago.

They are not very common but also not super-rare, they turn up on Ebay at times and dont seem to go for extortionate prices.

I know it's an old thread, but I also have a blue tuck box. It's a 1972 edition with blushing fool printed by AG Muller in Switzerland. The box is  not in good condition, but the cards are and are absolutely lovely and a real pleasure to handle and shuffle.

The lwb is printed by Flarepath. I also have a 1975  edition with a two-part box.  The cards are very similar, with a slightly different shade on the plaid back.  They are my favourite decks. The colours are good and the cards just feel right somehow.

yes - I have two. The cards feel exactly the same as the two-part lift off

box. I got one off Essjay on AT and the other one on eBay.
