MollyCat Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Dang, I forgot to sign up this week! I'm in with the Ship of Fools Tarot paired with the Wisdom of the Four Winds. From the Ship of Fools Tarot, the Stars; from the Wisdom of the Four Winds, 'Kauri:' The Fool and a young man look up at a night sky full of stars. In the companion booklet, Williams hints that when we lose hope, we also lose our ability to be awed. With wonder comes mystery; with mystery comes the realization that we don't know everything. After going through (or in the middle of) a painful situation, it's easy to lose hope when we think we know how things are going to turn out. These quotes from Pema Chodron give some guidance in line with the message of the Stars: We sow the seeds of our future hells or happiness by the way we open or close our minds right now. All you need to know is that the future is wide open and you are about to create it by what you do. The Kauri is a coniferous tree found in the northern part of New Zealand. When the tree is damaged, it exudes a sap to close the wound. This conifer also sheds a great amount of bark and lower limbs to protect itself from parasitic plants and vines. The combination of these cards suggests that often the worst parasites damaging our hope for change is our own thoughts. Why not shed them and open up to the spaciousness and wonder of the night sky? Love that 'Wisdom of the four Winds'. Is it an oracle of trees? Nature is so beautiful. (popping out again, waving 'thank-you!)
jema Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 oh lantana that deck is just amazing!!! Shrine of the Black Medusa Tarot. on my wish list!! This is my second time around with victorian fairy and i have to say it is just not my cup of tea at all. seriously i think it is all the prim men with goatee beard that does it.
Lantana Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 My card for today is the 9 of Swords. So perhaps right now instead of shoving down my anxious fears, I need to sit with them and see what they can tell me today. You know what, Lantana, I think that is absolutely true. <3 Thank you for this insight. I'm curious how you feel just sitting with them. Whatever feelings I have, especially the sadder, darker ones, I sit with in meditation. I just let them be there with me and explore how it feels. I try not to identify with them. Just sit with the emotions as if they were guests. For me, especially as someone with GAD and social anxiety, I try to get to the root of the anxiety instead of just chasing it away. Of course, this is a lot easier to do now that I'm in therapy and on medication. For instance, sitting with my anxiety yesterday I learned that I feared my friend would hate my gift because my art isn't adequate enough, which informs me of what I need to improve in my next piece. I wouldn't have gotten that lesson if I just shoved it down, though again I'm only just now in a place where it's safe for me to do so. O:-)
Bodhiseed Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Love that 'Wisdom of the Four Winds'. Is it an oracle of trees? Nature is so beautiful. (popping out again, waving 'thank-you!) It is based on the animals, plants, stones, and stars seen in New Zealand. :D
RavenOfSummer Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 This week has gone fast! Being in the group did help me a lot with getting back into my regular practice though <3 I mostly read for myself with the Rumi, did a couple of readings for others with the Goddess and one for myself. I didn't work with the Shamanic Healing Oracle at all! Maybe I was a bit ambitious to try for 3 decks. Now I have to figure out what I want to do for the coming week...
Trogon Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Well, although I didn't get in here to post, I was working with my new Tarot of Dreams this week. I just bought it last week. Just thought I'd pop in and put it on record. ;D I am really loving this deck! The artwork is fabulous! The imagery is just close enough to the RWS that I don't have to think about things too much, but it is also different enough that the cards are giving me some new twists on the interpretations. So, though the post is late, I've been with you all. ;) Trogon - Tarot of Dreams
