Pictures of hundreds of tarot decks

Featured Replies

I found these collections on  Google Plus whilst searching for something else.

Not sure how 'legal' it is to post such pictures but I found it fascinating to look at some decks unknown to me till now.

I was looking for Dana Driscoll's email address when these came up in the query answer.

Shavini, you might find your 'mystery' tarot here.

This site is incredibly helpful, MollyCat. If someone is having second thoughts about buying a deck, they can simply check here to see if there are any cards that might turn them off.

That said, I can see how the site can be used for unseemly purposes. Still, thanks for the heads up. :)

thanks Mollycat. that's a lovely website.

Awesome! Thanks for posting it. And how cute is the Kitchen Tarot? (Lol!)

Another site that shows all the cards in dozens of decks is Albideuter (http://albideuter.de/); they do have permission from the publishers of the decks.

You can also see all the World cards, for instance, by clicking on one of the little pictures to the left

I think it's pretty much the norm that you don't show the entire tarot deck.  Those decks on MollyCat's post only show the cups and wands so that might be why it's ok.  Don't quote me on this but I do know when I did research, the one huge consensus is to NOT show the entire deck. ;)

I take that permission statement with a grain of salt.

When he started doing that it was nearly impossible to get permission to show more than five cards. From so many different publishers?  I think not.

The first one mentioned has been taken down several times over the last ten years. I think the theft on the grand scale of penterist has caused about everyone to give up trying to retain ownership of anything.

I hear ya, I'm heavily involved in the video gaming modding scene and we hear all the time about modders assets and resources being stolen.  It gets really frustrating trying to track down the thieves!

Albideuter is a German instution. ;)

I have it on good authority (aka Riccardo) that they have permission from LoScarabeo for the decks shown; I'm pretty sure it's the same for the other ones (there was a discussion about it on Aeclectic years ago).

It's also never been taken down.

And, you'll notice that some *very* well-known deck publishers are completely lacking from the collection; they declined to have their decks shown, and Albideuter listened to them.

I'm not fond at all of sites showing whole decks when it is against the wishes of the publisher and/or artist, but Albideuter is not one of them

I love these links. Thanks for posting it.
