I know a lot of people use postimage as an image host for forums and their pictures because it's a good alternative after photobucket's changes and some of the other hosts closed down.

Recently in the last few weeks, postimage has developed a problem. About 2 weeks ago, someone who owns the registry details of postimage, locked the url away from them and they have lost their url. In an emergency, all their files and urls will work if you change the url postimg.org to postimg.cc (exactly the same url of the image or weblink after that) and the main site postimage.org goes to postimages now.

I have posted images here for people's readings and they are now broken. They are hoping to get .org back but for now, if you find a broken image to them and want to view it, just change the domain end to .cc! They have given out very little info, just the emergency fix and they hope to get their .org back!

Thank you for the tip, DanielJUK!

It's becoming more and more difficult to find a good, easy and dependable image-hosting site

although it's probably cheaper than ever to buy cloud based storage for those sites, also it seems none of them have found a way of making them profitable! I mean, they give you unlimited storage of the photos with no expiry! So many are closing down or desperately trying to find a revenue method, like photobucket who then annoyed all their users by making the photos really restricted in use for free. Postimage nearly went under last year and got emergency financing to save it.

It's possible to make a pro service which covers the limited free service. Flickr has a huge member base of pro users, it's just sad that when Yahoo! bought them they totally ignored the site and all the assets of it. Another photo sharing site has just bought Flickr and everyone online seems very happy to get it away from yahoo, but it's a profitable site. Just hard to share the photos on forums.

I think the domain problem might be related to postimages problems last year. Still not fixed but .cc domain is working fine with them for now.
