Unable to shout a the Chat Box

Hello everyone,

 

I am subscriber, yet I seem unable to shout in the subscriber Chat Box. What am I doing wrong, not doing, etc.?

No sure, I did a test and all I had to do was type my message and hit the shout button and it worked.

I do that and it doesn't post. Using Chrome (browser). I wonder if I should be using a different browser.

I've been able to do it using Chrome.

 

Mind you, it took me a while to work out where to write (duh)  :)

I had a little play in chrome (I usually use the forum in firefox) and the shoutbox seemed to be fine. But it is an element on the page, could something be blocking it Shivani? For example noscript a popular add on often messes up elements on the page like that until you allow them, I notice on firefox I have allowed everything from this forum so it displays properly. I wonder about security add ons or software? You could experiment with this by using chrome with add ons turned off.

 

Open Chrome, on the menu button (3 vertical dots) in the top right hand corner scroll down and select new incognito window. You get a new tab in incognito mode with a dark border around it, this mode is for secure browsing and it won't save your browsing history or cookies. It made me log in to the forum again. In this mode, as well as privacy, it doesn't allow any add ons unless you manually override that. See if the chatbox works. If it does now, something in your add ons is blocking it!

 

If it's still not working, try cleaning out chrome. Go on the menu button in the top right hand corner and go down the menu to more tools and go to clear browsing data. Click it and then have it in basic mode, select time range (all time), select browsing history and the last option images and files. I recommend not selecting cookies and site data as you will lose all your site logins! then click clear data. Hopefully that might fix it

Yes, try using the button to submit the shout.  See if that works!

where is the shout box ? I don't see it on the forum and the home page,, is it disabled ?

it's on the home page Holmes but you have to be a subscriber to see it  :)
