I've had really good luck with my last few new decks,  every week I've been reluctant to move on.    Part of being more picky about what I buy, maybe.

VGimlet - Ethereal Vision Tarot

I do have mixed feelings about this deck, as I supported the Kickstarter and it's now coming out as  mass market deck, but I guess that's good for the creator.

Hi VG, I too am going to work with Ethereal Visions this week. I did a  interview with.the deck, which I posted in my journal, so I have a bit more of a feel for what kind of deck it is, but think it needs some dedicated attention.

Sounds interesting! I'm a big fan of the Norse Tarot. Look forward to hearing how your week goes :)

This week I'll be using the Norse Tarot deck and book set, created by Clive Barrett and published by Aquarian Press. I'll also be using the Wolf Pack, created and self-published by Robert Petro. Today's draws are the Ace of Cups and 'Control:'

Loving oneself is the foundation for loving another person.

― Thich Nhat Hanh

The Ace of Cups represents the joy and love we find through our connection with others. This beautifully designed chalice has a wide, hefty base to support the cup and its contents. Does its base imply we need to be able to love ourselves before we can love another? Clinical psychologist Leon F. Seltzer questions this logic, suggesting it affects not if we can love but how: "To deepen your love and acceptance of another, first develop love and acceptance for yourself." In other words, when we accept rather than hide our quirks and faults, we keep our heart fully open and thus deepen the intimacy of the relationship. The Control card brings to mind the 'near enemy' (a trait that looks like a virtue but is destructive) of loving-kindness - attachment. Attachment in this sense is possessive and based on fear and clinging. The 'loved' person is seen as something needed, and manipulation is almost always in play to control the relationship. An examination of our attachment will show a love that is constricted and conditional. Rather than a deep cup, it's as shallow as a saucer.

You are quite welcome.  :)    Let me know what you think of the GoT tarot.

Ethereal Visions is really pretty.

Ethereal Visions is really pretty.

I for one think the GoT tarot is excellent. Surpassed all my expectations for both production quality and reading qualities.

And isn't the Ethereal Visions just beautiful? I though it was too pale and pastel when I first opened it but as I get to know the deck it's just gorgeous. It has the most soft gentle vibe. Incredibly soothing. For me it's like the Fountain's little sister.

My card for today - I asked EV for some inspiration to keep me going today. She gave me Two of Swords and told me not to expect to be able to get the answers or decisions made today, which is incredibly apt and encouraging.4fe5fa7b09bce4525b9913037a9c8b44.jpg

Hmm, it's already halfway through the week but I guess it's never too late discuss the deck(s) I've been focusing on this week.

This week I've been using the Sheridan Douglas tarot second edition. This is a very bold colourful and groovy 70s deck which is exactly what I want. I always thought this was long OOP until I recently discovered it was actually still available - just not widely.

Why do I like the Sheridan Douglas? It's a hybrid Marseille/RWS in that the Majors/Aces/Court cards are Marseille inspired while it has illustrated minors - the illustrations convey the RWS meanings but not in the same way as the RWS. Refreshing. I don't know why but I picture myself reading with the deck in a seaside cafe; might be something to do with the seaside/nautical flavour of some of the artwork.

My other deck of the week is the CBD Tarot de Marseille. This is an excellent, affordable and widely praised Marseille now published by US Games. I've been practicing Yoav Ben-Dov's Open Reading technique with the CBD and the deck really sparks the flashes of intuition.

Welcome Wheel of the Fantastic, and you're right , it's never too late to join us.  :)

I'm enjoying the Ethereal Visions - a very pretty deck, and it's reading well for me.

I actually haven't used the Sidhe at all this week, but I used the Fournier a bit. I'm always a little nervous when I try to read with a TdM, since I haven't used one very much. I really enjoy it, though, when I work up the courage. Some day I will devote a chunk of time to becoming comfortable with this system.

Me too! Like you want to spend some time getting better at reading with TdM decks. The Fournier is a nice deck.

Yeah, I like the colors. There's a TdM Reading Circle here, though not every month, if you're interested, Charlotte.
