AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Welcome home! I've seen many deck creation threads where the artist is loving on 78 images to paint in their own style, but doesn't have a clue about tarot symbology for each card. That irritates the snot out of me. I learned a lot by coloring in a RWS deck and that might be where they should start. coloring in makes you pause and say why red, why a rabbit.

Page of Ghosts Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Welcome home! While I don't think people who aren't familiar with tarot should be banned from creating a deck and there are many interesting non-traditional decks that don't rely on familiarity with the RWS tradition, you should still have an idea about what you're doing and why. Colouring in a RWS sounds like fun and you're sure to notice a lot of little details you haven't given much thought to before, which gives you an idea about how someone new to your own deck will respond to it.
