EmpyreanKnight Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 I just read about this deck, and I was very charmed. I like how light and wholesome the cards are, and the Mucha-inspired backgrounds in some of them are adorable! The assignment of diverse Pokemon to the various cards are usually spot on, tho I would have gone with different characters in some of them. Overall it just works tho. You can see all of the cards in the pic below. To see the cards in greater detail, just open the image in another tab or window: You can also see all of the cards in the Pokemon Tarot gallery in the creator's DeviantArt account. She is taking pre-orders for the very first batch of decks she will release until July 1. Check out her Tumblr account if you're interested. It does seem like she plans to release another batch after that, so if you want to be sure about the deck's quality first before purchasing it, you may want to wait until initial reviews of the deck pours in.
EmpyreanKnight Posted June 17, 2018 Author Posted June 17, 2018 Here are some sample cards from the deck, along with the creator's writeup for it in her Tumblr. Some of her explanations are lol: The Magician is responsible for creation and individuality, and what Pokemon better represents that than Mewtwo? I don’t know if his clone machines would ever appear in the games, but that was my favorite movie as a kid. He has the power of emotion as well as logic, and I think Mewtwo represents that pretty well. The Chariot is a card of raw emotion controlled by will. Forces that would run recklessly and dangerously on their own, like Rapidash and Zebstrika, are unified by someone with great control. Originally, that was going to be Espurr, but Gardevoir’s proportions fit the piece better. That and they’re just so darn pretty. Neither emotional power nor physical force is the meaning of Strength; instead, strength is measured by sheer determination and control. The inner beast one must conquer is almost always a lion, and the conqueror is usually a beautiful and pure maiden. I think Pyroar and Florges fit these roles perfectly, don’t you? Fate and destiny go in a circle, with ups and downs and what goes around comes around’s. The Wheel has three figures: a snake descending, Anubis ascending, and a sphinx on the top. Seviper, Lucario, and Luxray fit the bill well! The four Pokemon in the background correspond to the official Pokemon horoscope. This card is filled with misdirection and mystery. When the Moon is present in a reading, it means you may not have an idea about where to go or what to do, and the path ahead is dark. However, if you persevere, you’ll make it out eventually! Lunatone is a good stand-in for the traditional moon. The symbolism is deep in this card; the domesticated Growlithe and wild Poochyena are both captivated by the moon’s appeal, meaning anyone is liable to be caught up in the illusion. The crayfish often shown on the card is a symbol of hidden thoughts rising to the surface, and Corpish was too cute not to include! Tl;dr: Lunatone is a space rock, Growlithe and Poochyena are dogs, and Corpish is adorable. Celebration is in order when the Sun is drawn! A symbol of reliability and success, it hearkens in a new day of prosperity! Solrock is of course, our new sun, and Whimsicott, Lilligant and Sunflora all evolve using a Sun Stone, so they’re the perfect entourage for this card! Drawing the Two of Cups almost always signifies an external relationship. The bond isn’t as strong as in the Lover’s card and strictly implies that this union will need work to grow, but nothing worth it was ever easy. Frillish look like ghostly Victorian lovers, but their creepy Pokedex entries keep them from seeming too innocent. Seriously, go look up their Pokedex entries. These things are spooky. Did someone say “seduction?” Because this card is full of it! The Knight of Cups comes as a messenger of the romantic sort, often as a bearer of wedding proposals or declarations of love. Be sure you’re ready to commit to something fully before taking advances, though, as it’s easy to get swept carelessly away in all that passion. Swanna is an opera bird, and what’s more passionate than opera? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s hard to deny the charm and grace of the Queen of Cups. Everything about them, inside and out, can be considered beautiful. They also tend to reflect secrets of others while hiding their own, making them somewhat coy and distant. Milotic evolves when beautiful enough, so what better Pokemon to be the face of beauty itself Now that you’re almost done learning the lessons of the Pentacle suit, it’s time to marvel at what awaits you when you apply them to your own life. The Nine of Pentacles shows satisfaction, both with the material world and spiritual side of things. Now that you’ve obtained this peace of mind, no one can take it away from you, so relish your success. Diancie is a glittering diamond, and you can’t get much more pristine than the “Royal Pink Princess. Responsible and tough, this knight will not stop until their work is done. They are inexhaustible, but may lack imagination and their stubbornness can be as much a hindrance as a strength. Mudsdale can plow fields until the sun goes down, and has the hard head of this paragon of stamina. The pinnacle of the negative traits of the Sword suite, the Ten marks a major disaster or a lack of mercy. Something bad is going to happen, and your only option is to buckle down and get ready for it. Don’t worry too much, though, as the dawn is close and you will be able to learn from this ordeal. Yveltal is a harbinger of death and destruction, and when it returns to its slumber, it sucks the life force out of everything around it. And finally, we reach the last suit of the Minor Arcana! The Wands suit is one of passion and creativity, and is associated with fire. Although not the most powerful card, the Ace of Wands presents a new beginning, a spark that can turn into a powerful blaze or fizzle out into ash depending on what is done with its abundance of energy. Vulpix must grow to master her power over fire, but that doesn’t mean she should be underestimated! She’s creative, charismatic, and sinister; she is the Queen of Wands. If you find yourself attracting a following, you’ll likely relate to this card. Although most things in this suit relate to spiritual matters, the Queen can be very sensual and sexual, and desires things both physical and intangible. Claim your independence, but take care not to manipulate those around you. Salazzle seems the perfect fit for this card as the sadistic manipulator of her harem of Salandit.

Lantana Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Ohhhh I'll have to get this... Pokemon means too much to me. I am interested in the quality though, any word on what they're printing with? Otherwise, I'll just sit tight for next week. Edit: From the looks of the tuck box on the tumblr photo, it seems like printer studio.
ToadieOdie Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I thought I had seen some of the artwork floating around on Deviant Art and sure enough you provided the link. :)) I do love very much lurking over there on that site and seeing what people come up with for cards and nothing pleases me more than to see someone release a fully completed deck. I have no doubt my son would love this one if I could ever get him interested in Tarot. <3
