Oh my yes, the historical aspect of Tarot is fascinating!  There seems no end of material to explore there.  I'm currently reading Joseph Campbell's "Romance of the Grail", concerning various grail legends, taking note of all the Tarot related mythology and symbolism expressed in those stories.  The Hero's Journey,which, of course, is the story told by the Major Arcana, is truly timeless!
