KatMoon Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Here are my go to 3 Card Tarot Spread What I need to know/What I need to let go of/Advice Where to Look/What to ignore/Advice What I think/What I need to think/How to make the shift Pro/Con/Overall What are yours?
Saturn Celeste Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 My general reading is 3 tarot cards and an oracle. If I'm reading without input from the sitter, I ask what do they need to know. Then it's just about seeing the message in the cards. Sometimes the oracle ends up being the focal point, maybe the cards cry to be read as past/present/future, or maybe the most symbolic card in the layout is what the message is all about like the Tower, 3 of Swords and 9 of Swords. Sometimes I use the oracle as a clarifying card to what the tarot has to say. I'm not one to use spreads and it's something I want to learn and this is a great forum to do that!

Oh that is a great idea to add the oracle card!! I will have to try that. For me I have to have a spread, I like everything having a place lol.

I must say there have been a few times that I should have done a traditional spread. I do use the Celtic Cross along with my general readings. There are many situations that a spread would be called for to really clarify and pinpoint someone's question.

For me though it is soooooo much information lol. I do best with little spreads, it seems that 4-5 cards is really my sweet spot. A Lot of information, but not overwhelming. And I do try to make my own spreads based on what the reader is asking. How do you go about a reading without a spread? I so want to be able to read that way, but then I doubt myself as I get into the cards lol.
Flaxen Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 I like 3 card spreads - they are probably my favourite. I used to use positional meaning such as past-present-future or reality-illusion- magic. Nowadays, I enjoy using no positional meanings and just read the flow of one card to the next. To do this, I’d look at the people in the cards and where they are facing, any recurring symbols or colours, traditional meanings and then blend it all together into a narrative.

I couldn't conceive of holding a baby and typing! You're the 2 of pentacles at the moment lolol. Flaxen[/member], I love the reality/illusion/magic spread also.
Cobweb Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 A 3 card spread I sometimes use when reading for myself is 1. Where I am now? 2. Where do I want to be? 3. How do I get from where I am to where I want to be. It really helps me focus. But I am really lazy with spreads - I often don’t use them at all. I just pull three cards in a row and see how they interact. KatMoon[/member] Oh that reminds me so much of when my daughter was tiny. I used to sit in front of the computer and feed her while typing with the other hand! :)
EmpyreanKnight Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 The 3-card spread that I use most often is the simple Past-Present-Future trifecta, tho I sometimes expand this to a 5-card Past-Present-Near Future-Intermediate Future-Far Future spread if I think it's more apt. I also use triad readings where for a specific concern I weave the answer out of the story that 3 cards collectively tell me.
DDwarks Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I always assign positions. I get more infos from it than just 3 cards on their own. It fits with my orderly and to the point mindset too. I like the what, why, way forward (how) set up.
DanielJUK Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 When I get super anxious, I always do this spread..... what makes things better / what makes things worse / something new to try you can use that in many situations in life <3 I basically live doing 3 card readings for myself ;D
