Bodhiseed Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Ten of Staves: Holy smoke, all those stacked cords of wood look like the Great Wall of China. A lot of work has been done up to this point. But the ten pieces with red ends (indicating what is important) have become buried beneath other things. It reminds me of when my daughter was born and I made the decision to work part-time in order to spend more time with her. Unfortunately, other people figured I had plenty of free time, so I was constantly barraged with requests to volunteer or help various causes or groups. Before I knew it, the reason I cut my work hours had been buried under a ton of other obligations. Just because we get to the "finished product" doesn't mean our project no longer needs our attention; in fact the opposite it true. The red-handled ax is a reminder of the motivating passion that first started us in this direction. It's time to pick it up and whittle away what is unnecessary, so we can nurture and sustain what's been created.
Rose Lalonde Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Yes, effort, weight and solidity. Plus I can't get away from seeing the hermetic Tree of Life thrown all out of whack in the 10 red pieces of wood. I thought the wood looked a bit odd in that the pieces aren't always resting on each other, but then I happened on this image of a cordwood masonry wall.

fire cat pickles Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 This is the card for labor, not work. The last card in the list was about work and the mental power and calculation involved with it, 3 of Pentacles. This one is about hard labor, mindless and mind-numbing work. Saturn in Sagittarius is appropriate here: limitation of the mind. It is pure brute forcefulness. We do what we have to do to get by. The worker here has taken a break, but they'll be back shortly. The ax has been left in the stump so the blade will not rust. The handle is red. Is it red to show that their life's blood has been put into it to survive? The red cord showing the same? The color red in this card could evoke a "pound of flesh" connotation when one considers that life will get out of the us what it wants until payment is made due. We all have to eat.
