Thanks for the update. I’m glad you found a good place in the end. [emoji4]

Hey, on Ms. Elias,

Her stuff made a lot more sense to me once I finally clocked her basic method: She reads everything in-line (ie. card 1, then 2, etc), treating each card as a word in a sentence or phrase in a story. So, a very basic example would be a simple subject - verb - object sentence like, "The boy kicks the ball." or Queen Wands / 4 Swords / 7 Coins = The Queen of Wands is exhausted (4 Swords) from her financial troubles (7 Coins).

The above is very influenced by playing card reading and she, in my opinion, uses the Hedgewytchery system of meanings by Dawn Jackson for reading the pips. For those who are also members of the cartomancy forum, you can get the system here: http://cartomancy.forumotion.com/t5357-hedgewytchery-material

I think these pieces off her blog are illuminating re: approach.... the comments are interesting (if overly highbrow) too:

https://taroflexions.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/tarot-lenormand/

https://taroflexions.wordpress.com/2012/10/11/lenormand-vs-tarot/

Other than that, she uses a number of general Marseille tricks - following the gaze of the figures, checking their body language, noticing how different elements change from card to card, etc.

But, of course, imo, she's very good at putting it all together.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble, but her work became easier for me to follow once this all clicked.

Peace.

I have a question I posed to these cards. I used the Golden Tarot Visconti-Sforza deck (Mary Packard).

What do I need to know about camping this weekend?

I got: The World, reversed, The Devil, and Strength.15085f31eb2701288d30ac48b9a1bf37.jpg

Below is my reading of the cards I drew.

I was kind of surprised that I got all these majors for what I thought was a benign question! I thought, what am I getting myself into?! Well, I'll start to find out.

The World, reversed.

So The World can be about completion and and having the green light, so to speak, to do something. It being reversed is telling me to slow down and think. I have not even reserved a spot or checked the weather. Can I even afford this? This is not a done deal. I need to think and plan.

The Devil.

Yikes! Do I even want to attempt this now? Lol! Well, The Devil is a birth card of mine and I think it is reminding me that, hey, don't be your own worst enemy. You have done 0 work on this, it is coming up, you have never been there, and you are stressing about it.

Also, don't give in to your fear and anxiety of going to a new place and camping at a new park area. You may get lost, but you will find your way. You may have to jerry-rig something. It will be ok.

Strength.

Have the strength to do this. Go for it! These memories are yours to make. Have the patience, calmness, and presence of mind to not let your stress turn you into a snappy, crabby person who makes the experience a negative one. Fight the stress by being prepared and take the time to get prepared. Make lists!

So I think these cards are showing some of my obstacles and by doing that they are showing me how to meet them or avoid them by planning. They also are cheering me on, I think, with the Strength card. I was very much against this camping trip up to a few days ago, so I feel like I should pack up my worries and laziness and get started on it (planning, reserving site,etc.).

So- I have found the VS weirdly straightforward in the past, I mean weirdly straightforward- almost like a lenormand versus a tarot. Very literal.

So- just my initial thoughts as soon as I saw the spread- basically it came out as a sentence.

You are leaving the creature comforts of your world (World reversed) to get more into a natural setting, very much in nature (Devil) and you will need some fortitude for the trip (Strength).

Does this camping trip involve hiking and being pretty neck deep in the woods? That is just the sense that I got from it.

So- when I say literal- that is the way it has always read for me before (and has turned out to be pretty spot on).

What are your thoughts? I put this out not knowing what type of camping trip you were looking at- but this seems to point less to car camping and more to intensive camping.

Interesting cards!

As it’s a camping trip, I’d normally tone down the Majors a bit. With the World reversed, I’d see that as your usual routine being turned upside down. The familiar environment of home is turned on its head. The Devil is very tied to physicality - this trip will really make you aware of your body and physical needs. I like that there is a little fire there too. Are there three of you going? Looks like one person is going to dominate and the other two are chained to their desires. Is there one person who likes to take charge of getting the fire going and cooking?

Fortitude suggest that you will need some endurance to get through it. If you are wild camping, the image makes me wonder if you’ll have to be careful of wildlife. You’re not in bear country are you?

Hi Penthasilia,

Thank you for your thoughts! It is, in fact, car camping, but it is causing a lot of worry for me since it is farther than normal for me (3 hour drive about), it is the unknown- where are the bathrooms, water, are the sites well set up for tent well, will my car get stuck? And now there is a chance of storms. There is a race component to it too that I am only indirectly involved in, i.e. I am not the one racing. Some people this does not bother at all, but I get very stressed with unknowns when out of my element (home ground).

I get a strong sense that it will be more roughing it than you are used to given the Devil plus Fortitude. It may be car camping- but the facilities will likely be less than you are used to- and the storms make sense, you will be "roughing it" in a way you perhaps aren't used to- but it will still be enjoyable- that Devil is a fun lad even if he can get us in trouble sometimes :P . Interesting about the race- you may be playing more of a supportive role perhaps but it will still require your energy.

All in all- that is what I am seeing.

Yes, I thought so too! There are three of us going. One of us is racing, not me. It is car camping, but very well could be near bear country, but there will be many others there for the race and realistically, I should worry more about raccoons and possums most likely.

I am the one who takes charge of the fire and cooking, but reluctantly and stressfully so. Nevertheless, it is my job for sure. A job I would love to get the hang of more.

I see for now there is a chance of storms in the area as well.

Penthasilia,

Thank you for these thoughts. I never thought about the Devil having a fun side, that is true and I like the image and idea of that. Yes, I think this will require quite a bit of energy. Often I am physically sore from camping not to mention worn out. I do love it though. Crazy me! The racer even has a different race a day before the camping race, so I may be having to do a lot in my supportive role.
