Fall Decks

The air is getting nippy, autumn's just around the corner and before you know it, you're already taking your fall decks out for a spin.

So yeah, which decks are you planning to use this season? They may be your perrennial autumn favorites or something that you think would fit the Samhain/Halloween/All Souls' holidays. Maybe I'd get some ideas. :)

I'm thinking that dark/horror/gothic decks would be fitting for the season, and since I love those kinds of decks I'll be in for a treat!

So for me, this fall it's going to be the Hertz Vampire, Santa Muerte, Deviant Moon, Ghosts and Spirits, and the Zombie too. Once I get in the mood for Lovecraft, I'm going to include the Necronomicon in my list.

I'd also like to explore the cool and austere Hermetic.

I have Trick or Tarot pulled out already, and the Everyday Witch.

There's a SLIGHT possibility I may be doing fun readings for an event near Halloween, and those two are the ones I have that are both pretty readable and appropriate for the situation. I love the Deviant Moon but it's probably not the best choice for Muggles! I have the Halloween Tarot in the tin, but it's renamed the suits and I can never keep track of which is which.

Hmmm ... since it is still running in the high 90's and triple digit temperatures I must confess I have not moved into a Fall state of mind yet lol.  I work with a different deck each month so I will mainly work with 3 decks in the fall.  I am thinking I might use The Druid Craft in September, The Bohemian Gothic in October, and Bonefire Tarot in November because it is the last of my decks purchased in 2018 that I have not worked with yet.

I'm going to get back to this thread when I have some time to sit with my decks.  ^-^

It's getting to that time, so I will pull out Seven Stars' Deck of Sorrows.  Also I like to use the Halloween Tarot in a tin.  At some point I need to get the Bohemian Gothic.  I keep putting it off.

The Santa Muerte, which is a recent addition, and which I love!!

Also, the usual suspects: Bohemian Gothic, Halloween (Kipling West), Deviant Moon, Vampyres, etc; autumn is by far my favorite season. :)

I caved and purchased the Trifoni della Luna with the marvelous sidekick of Mildred's fantastical secret pocket oracle/expansion set.

These will be my fall decks I am sure. Looking forward to getting them. I had hedged a bit about getting the Trifoni- but with the combo of the oracle deck I couldn't resist!

The Trionfi is a great deck - so expressive!

My decks for Autumn will be:

Bohemian Gothic

Klimt - the colours seem to capture that late summer/early autumn feel

Paulina

Mildred Payne

I’m with you, Jewel. We’ve finally got down to the upper 80s and that’s probably only because of all the rain... which makes it muggier! I’ll have to come back to this thread in a few weeks.

The only ones that come to mind are my Ritual Abuse and Tarot de Femmes Erotiques. One for the spoopy Halloween vibes and the other for the cozy autumn ambience. I might throw in my Witchbone Tarot and Oracle decks as well. I really want to get the Halloween in a Tin and Vampyres, because whats autumn without some vampires?

Lol this is so true. I think that aside from the Hertz I'll also be working with the Vampyres, like you.

From now till end of December is my favorite time of year. Yay!

I'll be using Trick or Tarot, Oracle of Shadows, Bohemian Gothic, and as I do all year because I love it - Tarot of the Zircus Magi.

I'm sure I'll use my vampire tarot decks too as the mood hits me.

Lovely choice, Flaxen. Adding the Klimt to my lineup.

Well I purchased the Tarot in Wonderland last week and am really excited about checking it out so now I have problem ... I want to try it out NOW lol.  This month I am working with (and enjoying) the DruidCraft, and I really want to use a Dark Deck in October but I am so tempted to go "Down the Rabbit Hole."  Grrrrrr ...... decisions, decisions, decisions.

I'm excited to use the Everyday Witch Tarot in the days leading up to Halloween. It's on theme and it's so whimsical and fun.

I think I'll be breaking out the Piatnik Wien, Raven's Prophecy, Tarot of the Night (Shadowfox) and Nature's Whispers Oracle for autumn. Piatnik Wien in particular is one which is criminally underused by me and which I got for a steal (then realised it had no Empress card  ::) - I used one of the instruction cards to act as the missing one though with a large RWS Empress card carefully stuck over the top of it - one makes do and mends lol! The deck works anyway!)

I think I'll pull out my Ludy Lescot , Royo Dark, Dark Angels, and Secret Tarot decks. Cannot wait for fall, and Halloween! :)

I love the Llewellyn Tarot for its golden, harvest-y vibe. It's good for the whole autumn season. The DeBurgh Celtic Tarot has a little of that vibe as well. Vision Quest Tarot is nice for the late summer/early autumn harvest time.

For Samhain/Halloween themed decks, my favorite is my Halloween Oracle. I absolutely love it. It has such a wonderful, crisp energy for this time of year, and works for ancestor work as well. It's one of those decks that seems simple and sweet, but is deep in practice.

Others in this category from my collection are Tarot of Vampyres, Dracula Tarot, Ghosts and Spirits Tarot, and Marigold Tarot. I haven't worked with the Marigold Tarot at all yet. For oracles, the witchy Earthly Souls and Spirits deck.

I also have the Seasons of the Witch Samhain Oracle on pre-order. It's supposed to ship in time for Samhain, but I have my doubts! It will be nice to work with if it does arrive.

For me it’s the John Bauer and the Bianco Nero. Two new releases that capture the mood of the season for me. This thread has made me want to nip home and dig out a selection of unused atmospheric decks to play with this season. The Schiffer Ring Tarot comes to mind; ‘moody and brown with goblins and dark skies.

I'm using the Antique Anatomy Tarot, Santa Muerte Tarot, and Zombie Tarot and am finding that they complement each other well.
