Need a suggestion for a new deck

Hello fellow Tarot lovers!

I would love your input on the following matter.

I am looking to add a new deck to my modest collection of decks.

The decks I purchase are those I usually intend to use ( I don't want decks just to say I have them- unless I find that I don't connect to it once it arrives- something that happened with the illuminati deck which I ended up gifting to a friend)

Also, I don't like religious symbolism and prefer the more pagan or nature oriented symbols.

Another thing, I like cards with details to spark my imagination and intuition-

That is why I can't ( as of now) use the Wild Unknown Tarot- even though many love it- to me it doesn't give enough to stimulate my intuition. ( I wish it would.. I really love its concept  :-\  )

I am a fan of the RWS system ( I didn't explore any other system and read ONLY using the RWS) and up until now I was using the RWS clones:

My main deck for now is the Robin Wood Tarot

I also like using the Radiant Tarot

I also own but rarely use- the Original RWS Tarot ( I have both the regular and large size- and use them mostly for teaching) and The Druid-craft Tarot ( the druid craft is very nice- but it isn't as appealing to me as the other decks I own)

I never use my Wild Unknown- for the reason described above.

Another deck I LOVE but can't use for similar reasons to the Wild Unknown is the Hidden Realm Tarot- the close up and having mostly people throw me off... but yeah I wish I could find a way to connect to it as well..  :'(

I used to have the Anna. K tarot ( but I threw it away- after about a week- an interesting story...)

I also had the Illuminati Tarot- But gave it to a friend since I didn't like the computerized art- I prefer drawings over computer made images.

Recently I have ordered the Llewellyn's Classic Tarot and  The Llewellyn Tarot- which I am starting to get the hang of.

Now I am looking for one more deck. I was thinking maybe of the Shadowscapes Tarot which people recommended but I am not sure about it - since some say it is overloaded with details which create confusion and an overall mass when viewing multiple cards at the same time.

I would love to hear some recommendations as for which deck you feel will suit me next!

THANK you all!

VOYAGER TAROT

One recommendation if you want to work with intuition.

I really like it and when using it - intuitive first or only. Although it has been a very long time. Maybe over 5 years.

But an awesome deck and challenging as well - some find it a bit hard. I do not.

I'm still pretty new, but I have the Shadowscapes. It is really, really beautiful. BUT, I really think each card needs to be poster sized. There's just SO MUCH detail in it, that I have difficulty dealing with it at the size it is. It should come with a magnifying glass or something!

However, if you are looking for pretty and whimsical yet readable, lately I've been loving the Joie de Vivre tarot. It's very cute, but I find it very easy to read for the most part even as a beginner. It took me a few tries to really GET it, but now it's my most used deck by far. The box is about to fall apart on me.

Will check it out indeed...

Aldor,

I also learned to read with Robin Wood  :).  Have the RWS but that deck just never "sparked" anything in me - I tried various versions of it and finally kept the Radiant but still never use it lol.  Anyways, here some recommendations:

- The Green Witch Tarot - I love, love, love this deck.

- The Everyday Witch - very readable and does spark the intuition.  Some contemporary imagery which helps make it very relatable.

- Victorian Fairy Tarot - do not let the colors or theme fool you, this deck is fabulous.  You want something to spark intuitive readings this one is amazing for that.  This has become another favorite for me.

- Joie de Vivre - again do not let colors fool you.  This deck is very intuitive and is not "fluffy".

- Tarot of the Sweet Twilight - vivid jewel toned colors in surreal landscapes.

- Deviant Moon - this deck is not as dark as you might think on first look and is really good to read with intuitively.

I have written reviews about most of these here on TT&M so you if you want read more about them you can check out the reviews in the Deck Review section of the forum.

Good luck and enjoy your new deck when you get it!

Hi,Aldor

If you like pagan themed decks, you may like the Pagan Tarot. It shows pagans in their everyday lives, which is a nice reminder that pagans are "real" people, not just "hippy-dippy" types like most people seem to think. If you're into dragons at all, you may like the Celtic Dragon Tarot, which comes from a pagan/dragon paganism perspective. Finally, the Shapeshifter Tarot is another pagan deck; if I'm remembering right, the guidebook contained wicca based spreads. I hope this helps. ^-^

Aldor44[/member] I really love the Healing Light Tarot.

Holmes recommended the Thelema Tarot and I agree with that one totally!    After learning on the JJ Swiss (Marseilles) I went to the Radiant RW.  The colors were so alive to me and really helped with recognizing the colors as symbols.  Make sure to get the kit if you're interested, the companion book is wonderful!  You can use it as a regular tarot reference book.

This deck is amazing!

I loved the images ( except several pentacles- but maybe a closer examination of them will change my mind)

I wonder

Have you ever used it?

How does it read?

It seems to busy.. especially if I imagine big spreads.

I know what you mean about The Wild Unknown. I love it and use it, but it is more difficult to connect with. It really helped me to read through the deck study posts from AT (here: http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=187087).

I LOVE the Shadowscapes Tarot! It's one of my most used decks. But I do agree that the card size isn't big enough for the level of detail in the art. I love the level of detail, it doesn't feel like too much and helps my readings, it's just that it's harder to read in a huge spread.

You might like the Sasuraibito Tarot. I waffled on whether to buy it or not, but I'm really glad I did, as it definitely sparks my intuition! And I find the art really warm and welcoming. There are divergences from the RWS system, though it is based on that system. The little guidebook that comes with it does a good job explaining those changes.

If you're looking for something more animal-based, you might check out the Anima Mundi or Animal Totem Tarot.

I use it all the time, that and my Thelema.  This is going to sound funny but to me the deck is like being in the animus in Assassins Creed if you've ever played that video game or saw the movie with Michael Fassbender.  It's a RW clone but it is veiled in so many colors and to me, feelings.

Just an FYI about the Celtic Dragon and Shapeshifter (and I think all Lisa Hunt decks), please note that in both of these decks Swords are associated with Fire and Wands with Air.

You might want to check out the Pagan Otherworlds. Aside from being intuitive and nature-themed, it's also very beautiful.

The deck looks really nice indeed. Unfortunately it is close to 60 USD before shipping which is too expensive for me..

But appreciate the suggestion

Thanks!
